The Funeral Mass for Melvin Harold Folwick will be held 1 PM Wednesday, February 12, 2003, in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 PM with a prayer service at 8 PM in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Visitation will also be held in the church one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fargo. Melvin died Sunday, February 9, 2003, in Bethany Nursing Home, Fargo, at the age of 89. Melvin was born February 5, 1914, in Centreville, SD. He grew up near Milca, MN. As a young man, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. In the late 1930s he moved to Fargo. On February 28, 1942, he married Martha ?Birdie? Partyke in Bremerton, WA. Melvin served with the 776th Tank Destroyer Battalion in Africa and Italy during World War II and was awarded two bronze stars. Returning to Fargo after the war, Melvin worked for Northern States Power for 35 years. He is a 50-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Melvin was a member of the Fargo American Legion, the West Fargo VFW, and the Eagles. He enjoyed working in his garden and had a special love for animals. Melvin is survived by his two daughters, Lucinda (Curt) Andersen, Nevis, MN, and Sheridon (David) Lewis, Sabin, MN; five grandchildren, Liz Andersen, Fargo, ND, Denise (Randy) Iwen, Fargo, Steve Lewis, West Fargo, ND, LeAnn (Mike) Hunke, Ellicott City, MD, and John (Amanda) Lewis, Fargo; three great grandchildren, Kennedy Hunke, Jacob and Alex Lewis. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, six sisters, and two brothers. We are grateful for having Melvin in our lives. His love will be forever in our hearts.
