Michael Everett Dallman, age 77, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016 in the VA Hospital in Fargo, with his children at his side. Michael was born November 14, 1938 in Moorhead, MN, son of Adolph and Ruby (Oas) Dallman. The family lived briefly in Diesem, then moved to Oakes, ND where Michael graduated from Oakes High School, and was awarded the Nate Cummings Student Athlete of the Year in 1956. At the age of 17, Michael joined the Navy, and over his twenty year career, travelled the world as he served his country. From South Africa to Germany, Hawaii, Japan and Panama, Michael served as a radio operator and received numerous good conduct awards and meritorious unit citations. On July 2, 1970, Michael married Sherrye Long and they started their family, with both children, Aimee and Jarrod, being born on military bases. Upon retirement from the Navy in 1976, the family moved to West Fargo, where Michael briefly worked for Radio Shack in the West Acres Mall. He then joined Thermo-Pak, serving as plant manager. He then worked a handful of jobs, including janitor for NDSU, before joining Family Life Credit Services, serving as Credit Counselor and Assistant Manager until his retirement in 2000. After retirement, Michael enjoyed working on his house, mowing the lawn, taking the dog for a ride, and socializing at the Hunter Café. Michael was preceded in death by his wife Sherrye, his parents, and his parents-in-law, Phil and Doreetha Long. He is survived by daughter Aimee, Hunter, ND; son Jarrod, Fargo; sister Alice (Orville) Hanson, Lisbon, ND; brothers Karl (Janiece), Medical Lake, WA; John (Anna), Sioux Falls, SD; and Richard (Peggy), Indianapolis, IN. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center in Fargo, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
