Her continued education was at the University of Minnesota Crookston, and graduated with a business degree in 1980. She moved back to Grafton and worked at the Walsh County Bank in the bookkeeping and proofing dept. She moved to Fargo, ND in 1989 and worked for 1st American Service Center and Community First Bank. She put in many hours at the Kind-er Care Assisted Living, helping with the residents; she had a special gift for working with the senior citizens. She loved them just like family. In 1997, Mitsy was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer and received treatment at Roger Maris Cancer in Fargo, ND. On October 10, 2007, Mitsy had her first stem cell transplant at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She was in remission with lymphoma until 2015. In April, she was diagnosed with leukemia (ALL – Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). In September, Mitsy went to Rochester where she had an allogenic stem cell transplant. She was blessed that her brother Todd was a 100% match for her stem cell transplant. On November 17, 2015 she had her transplant. During both occasions for her treatments, she resided at the Gift of Life House in Rochester. On February 12, she was surrounded by her family to comfort her on her journey to be with God. 10. To Mitsy’s Family
So sorry to hear of Mitsy’s passing. She put up a long hard fight and may you find comfort knowing she is now at peace and remember all the special times you had with her. I’m out of town so I will not be able to make it to the service but my thoughts are with all of you.

  11. Growing up I felt like one of the “Fliceks”. I have so many fond memories of staying in town at their “Big” house. I will miss Mitsy dearly. As a cancer survivor myself, she was there as I took my journey and borrowed me her collections of hats. I could never thank her enough for that. Cancer is evil, but it makes us stronger. Mitsy held on to her faith and knew that if things didn’t go as planned, God had a plan of his own for her. I pray for you all to find comfort and know that she is in a much better place with out pain or illness, she is now our angel serving our Lord. God Bless you all.
    Hugs.. Holly

  12. My sincerest sympathies to the Flicek family. I remember growing up as neighbors and how loving and kind you all were to my grandmother and great aunt, Kate and Jeanette. They both adored Mitsy and all of the Flicek children. I was so thrilled to run into Mitsy a couple of years agl at Touchmark (formerly Waterford) where Mitsy was working with my sister-in-law’s mother at the time. She still had the same spunk and sparkle about her that I remember as a child. Blessings to all of you.

  13. Marcell and family:

Even though I did not know Mitsy personally, I have known the family forever! Especially you, Marcell. I fondly remember the summer bus rides to Fargo and have mention them frequently to others. Those were happier times. As you and the rest of the family struggle through this tough period and loss, may the good Lord comfort and hold you close.

God Bless you and yours, my friend.
    Joe Ellefson
