Minnie Garcia, 93, of Fargo, North Dakota peacefully passed away on December 5, 2020. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, December 12, 2020, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, in Fargo. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Fargo. Fr. Antony Samy Officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:30 AM, Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo.
Minnie was born April 12, 1927, to Raymond and Ruth (Rodriguez) Navarro in Mason City, Iowa. She grew up in Fargo, North Dakota attended both parochial and public schools and graduated from Fargo Central High School. After the Korean war she met a young solider from Texas named Santos Garcia. They fell in love, married, and started a family and lived in South Fargo for the majority of her life.
After high school, Minnie began work as a switch board and catalogue saleswoman for Sears and Roebuck. She enjoyed helping people purchase their goods or finding just the right gift. She retired from Sears after nearly thirty years of service. Minnie was a loving mother first and foremost and her grandchildren were her heart and joy. Her home was a gathering place for family and friends. When stopping by you could always count on a “just made” stack of tortillas and a plate of beans and rice; all perfectly seasoned by her love. Many times, during the holiday season her house became enveloped with the smell of handmade tamales simmering in the cooker often followed by dancing to live guitar and accordion music. After retirement, Minnie enjoyed traveling and spending time at her children’s and sister’s home. She also enjoyed doing embroidery, bird watching, and “beating the odds at” the casinos with friends.
Minnie is survived and will be forever loved and remembered by her two sons and son-in-law; Ricardo (Cindy) Garcia, Barneveld, NY, Bob (Tammy) Garcia, Brookfield, WI, Bob Kammerer, Fargo, ND, six grandchildren; Chad (Rachel) Kammerer, Westminster, CO, Carina (James) Barton, Wauwatosa, WI, Tony Garcia, Brookfield, WI, Alex (Matt), Schirmacher, Cottage Grove, WI, Desiree (Derek) Armstrong, Indianapolis, IN, Austin Garcia, Indianapolis, IN, seven great-grandchildren; Kaleb and Isabel Kammerer, Jackson and Brooklyn Barton, Sienna Garcia, Benjamin Shirmacher, and Duncan Armstrong, two sisters; Julie Schumacher, Chillicothe, Ohio; Mary Navarro, Fargo, ND, and Lola Gonzales, Westminster, CA, four brothers; Raymond Navarro, Lake Elsinore, CA, Tom (Sharon) Navarro Fargo, ND, Mario (Pam) Navarro, Fargo, ND and Nick Jr, Navarro, Fargo, ND, several nieces and nephews, other relatives, neighbors and friends.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Santos, daughter Yolanda Marie Kammerer, who she loved dearly, her angel granddaughter Courtney Garcia, and her brothers; Jesse, Daniel and Nick Sr. Navarro, her sisters; Francis Elizondo and Tillie Perez. Minnie had a deep faith in our Lord and the Blessed Virgin Mary. She enjoyed a long and full life. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Minnie touched our hearts again, a few years ago when, after the encouragement of Aunt Lucille, we stop in and visited her. You see, we lived upstairs in Minnie’s house when I was little. My husband and I stopped by her house and when she answered the door she knew immediately who I was, even after 50 years! We had a wonderful visit with her and she even let me go upstairs to revisit our old home. She made us feel right at home and we are so grateful for getting to spend the afternoon visiting with her! Minnie will always stay in my heart. I loved her from the day I first met her. I loved this whole family. I would see her at Sears, and we would always have wonderful talks. Thoughts and prayers go out to your entire family. I knew Minnie several years ago and remember how kind she was, always had a smile on her face and always made you feel welcome. Condolences to you all.
Memories of the love and friendship left by Minnie and Sandy fill my heart even at this sad time. Their home was always open with warmth and generosity.
We often played cards with them on the weekend and shared laughter and stories about family and friends .
I remember once when my husband and I took Minnie to Mexican Village. She had brought her own tortillas in her purse that she brought out of her purse because they were better than the resturants made.
I went to school with her brothers. It is true how the world is small, at least in Fargo. The connections with the Navarro family could be found in many ways.
Minnie left much love wherever she walked. Her kindness touched many. She will be missed by many who met her on their journey in life. She truly was a blessing in our lives.

My deepest sympathy to all the family and friends of Minnie. I met Minnie while I was going to school and working part-time at Sears, little did I know I would meet her brother “Daniel” and become a part of her life as well. I have many great memories of late night trips to Walmart, pie and coffee at Perkins, casino trips and visiting her at her house always having hot coffee from the thermos under the kitchen sink. I am glad I have these memories to keep her close to my heart. I know she will be deeply missed by all her family and friends and I wish forall of you peace and comfort in the days ahead. Blessed be her memory.

Minnie was a central and important part of our neighborhood. We loved having her as a neighbor and we loved her. She was a thoughtful and caring person and had a great sense of humor. We laughed together about all kinds of things. We miss her terribly.
Words cannot express the sympathy we have for Minnie’s family and friends. Especially for Bob and Tammy, Carina, Tony, and Alex. I know how much love you had for your Mom Bob and that special love Tammy had for your mom. Bob and Tammy, you could not have been more loving caregivers for Minnie and I know that she appreciated that love and caring. You both have lost much this year and grief is powerful thing. I pray that God’s grace, comfort, and peace surround all of you and keep you on the palm of His hand. We love you very much
Bob, Rick and families, so sorry for your loss. We use to spend a lot of time with your mom and dad. We always had so much fun. I remember their house with the heat radiator by the window. Your mom would sit there, talking and laughing. When she laughed she had a little snort. She was always very proud of her family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
