Morris Dean Hallquist, 67, Fargo died suddenly of renal/heart failure at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, on Saturday, January 17, 2009.
Morris, the youngest of 6 children, was born June 17, 1941, at the home of his parents Richard E. and Esther Olive (Hake) Hallquist in Frederic, Wisconsin. He graduated from Luck (WI) High School in 1959 and attended Hamline University and received both bachelors and master?s degrees from the University of Minnesota-Mankato. He completed doctoral-level work at the University of Wisconsin.
Morrie and Mary (Wyatt) were married on August 3, 1963. They lived briefly in Winthrop, MN and West St. Paul before moving back to their home state of Wisconsin in 1967. In 1983 they moved to Fargo.
Morrie retired in 2003. He was an avid reader, always searching for answers to questions regarding computer use, technology, religion/theology, fishing, and almost any subject anyone asked him about. His sense of humor, desire to learn and interest in so many different subjects will never be forgotten. He has left a legacy for so many of us. God bless his departure from this life.
Morrie is survived by his wife and soul-mate Mary, his son and daughter-in-law Matt and Deb and his 2 beloved grandchildren Megan and Michael all of Fargo. Also surviving are brother Bob and (Shirley) Hallquist, nieces Sara, Amy all of St. Paul; brother-in-law Clarence of Fridley; nephew David Hallquist of River Falls, WI, niece Sharon and (Gregg) Moses and family of Madison, WI; numerous other cousins and in- laws in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Leonard and Marita Hallquist, sister Eunice, and infant brothers Reuben and John.
Visitation: Wednesday, 5-7, with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm January 21st at Messiah Lutheran Church, Fargo.
Funeral: Thursday, January 22nd, 11:00am with visitation 1 hour before the service at Messiah Lutheran Church, Fargo.
