Myron G. Olsgaard, 86, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at his home in rural Kindred, ND. Myron Grant Olsgaard was born in Fargo, ND, August 6, 1923 to Ole Gerhard Olsgard and Ellen Luella (Borderud) Olsgard. Myron was a life long member of the Norman Lutheran Church at Kindred and graduated from Kindred High School in 1941. He served in the Pacific in 1945-1946 as part of the First Calvary Division. He served in Japan as a heavy equipment operator with the 8th Engineers Occupation Forces. He then came home to help his father on the family farm. This Olsgaard farm is a North Dakota Centennial Farm, with Myron and Olive living on it. In 1950 Myron married Olive Thompson at Wyndmere, ND. Myron had many hobbies collecting and restoring toy trains, making diamond willow canes, and was interested in genealogy. For many years Myron helped operate an undermounted 20 horse double cylinder Avery steam engine and assisted with the Briden-Roen Sawmill at the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers in Rollag, MN. Myron was a life member of the Western Minnesota Steam Thresher’s Association, the West Fargo VFW, Walcott American Legion, First Cavalry at Fort Hood, TX, and is a charter member of the WWII Monument in Washington, DC. Myron is survived by his wife, Olive, his children Gary Olsgaard, Kindred, ND, Julie (Robert) Mitchell, Kindred, grandchildren Cody (Aimee) Mitchell, David (Sarah) Olsgaard, Jace Mitchell, Daniel Olsgaard, Kade Mitchell and Darrin (Danelle) Olsgaard, Great grandson Colton Olsgaard, and sisters Phyllis Moen, Kindred, Lyla Gohdes, Fargo, Yvonne Schiffner, Hatton, ND. He is preceded in death by his parents. The funeral for Myron will be Monday, November 23, 2009 at 11:00am at the Norman Lutheran Church, rural Kindred, Visitation will be Sunday, November 22nd from 1:00-3:00pm with a Prayer Service at 3:00pm at the Fredrikson Funeral Chapel, Kindred, ND.
