Obituary

Myrtle L. Anderson-Bernier, 88, West Fargo, ND, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Sanford Health, Fargo surrounded by her family.

Myrtle was born April 14, 1926 in Fargo, ND to Donat and Marion (Sauvageau) Tessier. She grew up on a farm near Horace, ND. She married Allan K. Anderson in Fargo on February 2, 1949. From 1959 to 1981 the couple farmed west of Hitterdal, MN where they raised their family of 10 children. She lived in Ulen, MN until 1984 when she moved to Fargo. She began working at Americana Nursing Home in November, 1984. Allan passed away in 1981. She married Thomas Bernier in September, 1997. Thomas passed away in June, 1998.

Her first job was working at the Manchester packaging cookies with her sister Darlene. She loved to camp and spend time at the lake. She loved to cook the fish that her son Ron would bring home. She took great pride in her gardening by comparing numbers of jars of canned goods with her sister-in-laws whom she loved to spend time with.

Her faith was one of the most important things in her life.

Myrtle enjoyed spending time with her family, including her 28 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. At times, her children would refer to her as our “gypsy mom,” as it was difficult to keep track of which of her children she was staying with or spending time with.

She is survived by her children; Carol Estrin, Fergus Falls, MN, Karen (Harold) Roesch, Downer, MN, Diane (Wesley) Carlsrud, Ada, MN, Debbie (Steven) Vigesaa, Moorhead, MN, Connie (Jon) Ambuehl, Hawley, MN, John (Carolyn), Fargo, ND, James (Stacey), Ulen, MN, Ronald, Gwinner, ND, sisters; Phyllis (Ronald) Rekken, Horace, ND, Audrey Offner, Fargo, ND, Margie Compton, Portland, OR, brother, Murray Tessier, West Fargo, ND, daughter-in-law, Jan Anderson, Fargo, ND, step-son, Alan Bernier, Woodinville, WA, 27 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Allan Anderson, second husband, Thomas Bernier, two sons; Arnold and Roger, siblings; Roy Tessier, Darlene Albin, Norman Tessier, Lucille Roerick, Arnold Tessier, son-in-law, Gary Estrin and daughter-in-law, Gloria.

Hearing of your mother’s passing was sad for me…I always liked your mom. It was always a treat to see her when I would go back home to St Thomas and visit. She and May Hughes were dear ladies and loved by all.
