Neil “Pete” Erdahl , formerly of Rosholt, SD and currently of Fargo, passed away on Saturday April 3rd at his home.

Pete was born January 27, 1932 in Rosholt, SD, the fourth child to Enoch and Hannah Erdahl. He was raised in Rosholt and attended Rosholt High School and graduated in 1950. In high school he participated in football, basketball, and baseball. In 1951 he enlisted in the United States Air Force for four years of which 3 years were spent in England as a Radio Operator. As a Sergeant he was discharged in 1954 and went on to Barber School. He worked as a barber for 20 years in Sisseton and Rosholt.

He married Elvonne Wehner on June 9, 1957. They lived in Rosholt where they raised their family of two girls, Joan and Carol. He worked for the Rosholt School District for 20 years and enjoyed watching the girls grow and participate in sports, never missing a game or a track meet.

He loved having a garden, and the bigger the better. He enjoyed woodworking and made many furniture pieces for his children, grandchildren and their dolls. When in season, he loved to hunt and fish. He was an avid sports enthusiast enjoying watching in person and on TV.

Pete played an active role in his community including being a member of the fire department, church, cemetery association, and American Legion.

He is survived by his wife Elvonne of Fargo, ND, two daughters Joan, (Michael) Pardy of Naples, FL, Carol (Tim) Jahner of Fargo ND, his sister Arline Judish and two grandchildren Hannah and Emily.

My sympathies to a great family! I remember playing in the coolest play house in Rosholt, and sitting in the barber chair getting a bang trim. I loved playing sports with Joan, and so thankful for my parent’s side kick of traveling to all the games. It still amazes me of how good Pete and my Dad took orders from their wives as they helped in the catering business! So thankful for childhood memories with each and everyone of you. And was fun to catch up with Carol, seeing her at church in Fargo! May Gods give you strength, and be thankful for your wonderful family life!

  7. John Gjevre says:

Neil was two years older than me as we grew up in Rosholt. He was such a dear friend of my brother Alden, who passed away some two years ago.The Erdahls lived the next block north of us in Rosholt and we were both members of Bethania Lutheran Church there.—- How he ever got the nick name”Pete” I never found out but there was a group of boys his age that each had a special nickname. A good solid citizen that was a credit to a remarkable small town.
May our Heavenly Father richly bless his memory John Gjevre
