Niles W. Fletcher, 75 of West Fargo, died from cancer on Friday, October 6, 2006 in the Palliative Care Unit of MeritCare Hospital, Fargo. Niles was born on July 18, 1931 in Owen, Wisconsin to Norville and Mildred (Deakins) Fletcher. He graduated from Park Rapids High School in 1949 and attended UND in Grand Forks, ND and NDSU in Fargo. He served in the US Army in Korea and was a 39 year veteran of the Minnesota National Guard where he served for many years as a First Sergeant. He worked for Northwestern Bell until his retirement in 1984. On July 31, 1955 he married Jean Lettenmaier. Fletch was an active community member serving as a Boy Scout leader and was one of the founders of Packer Backers?the West Fargo high school athletics booster club. He was also former President of the Exchange Club in West Fargo. He was preceded in death by his parents. Fletch is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jean of West Fargo; children, Neil (Carol) Fletcher of North Branch, MN, Vicki (Jerry) Janssen of Barnesville, MN; 4 grandchildren, Matt & Sara Fletcher of North Branch, MN, John & Andy Janssen of Barnesville, MN and his sister, Kay (Brad) Johnson of Mesa, AZ. Memorial Service: Wednesday, October 11 at 2:00 pm in First Lutheran Church, 619 Broadway N., Fargo. Interment: Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. Arrangements entrusted to Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
