Norbert passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011 at Sanford Health Palliative Care in Fargo at the age of 87.

Norbert Albert Sitter was born on August 14, 1923 to Albert and Louise (Sperka) Sitter in Oshkosh, WI.  He attended Sacred Heart Academy until the 8th grade and graduated from Oshkosh High School.  After graduation, he worked for 2 years at Olson Transfer out of Green Bay, WI in the Oshkosh branch.  He then worked for Greyhound Bus Lines out of Chicago, IL and was transferred to Fargo in 1944.  He was there for two years before he took a position with Dwyer Transport and worked for them from 1946-1968.  The company was sold and Norbert was employed with Midwest Motor Express until his retirement in 1986.  Norbert married Pearlene Middaugh on November 16, 1946 at St. Mary's Cathedral, Fargo, ND.

Norbert was active in the Knights of Columbus, achieving the office of Faithful Navigator in the 4th degree, Teamsters #116, and the Eagles.  He and Pearlene did a lot of traveling.  Highlights include Hawaii, Ireland, England, Scotland, France, and Italy-where they had an audience with Pope John Paul.  Time spent with the family and at the lake was his greatest joy.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Detroit Lakes Mn.Roger and I were so saddened to hear of Norbert’s passing. We were in Minneapolis and were unaware of the news till we heard at Mass Ash Wednesday. Unfortunately we were unable to make the funeral. We have found memories of Norbert as he was actively involved and a role model of his Catholic Faith to all of us. He will be leaving a beautiful legacy to his children and grandchildren. We are very greatful to have traveled with he and Pearline to Fatima, Lourdes and Rome on a wonderful Pilgrimage. We feel very blessed to have known both of you and hope, God willing, we will all be together in Heaven.
God Bless and Mary Keep You,
