Oliver Benjamin Johnson, 94, Walcott, ND died Sunday, April 16, 2006 at St. Catherine?s Living Center in Wahpeton, ND. Oliver was born March 2, 1912 to Sven and Ragnild (Graff) Johnson. He grew up in the Walcott area and served in the U.S. Army from October 1942 until November 1945. He was a member of the 50th Army of Engineers and served during World War II in the Aleutian Islands. He married Darlene Keene in 1964. Oliver was known as "Ole". He worked for the Great Northern Burlington Railroad for many years. He also worked for area farmers and was an experienced butcher. He was a member of the American Legion and West Fargo VFW Club. Ole loved to travel the country in his pickup. He would often put hundreds of miles on in one day. He liked going to auctions and he knew every back road for miles around. Ole also loved his trees and planted many. He liked to garden and for many years he produced pumpkins and gave them to the children in town. Ole is survived by his niece Arlene (Graydon) Hatlie, West Fargo, ND and two nephews, Henry and Scott Tiber, Minnetoka, MN and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Clara Braaten, Elmer Johnson, and Seneva Tiber. The funeral for Ole will be Friday, April 21, at 10:00am at Walcott Lutheran Church, Walcott, ND. There will be visitation one hour before the service. Interment will be at Walcott Cemetery, Walcott, ND.
