Orvid "Lyle" Smith

Orvid “Lyle” Smith, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND.

Lyle was born on December 28, 1929 in Buxton, ND, the son of Christ and Gertie (Kvitne) Smith. He graduated from Buxton High School and farmed near Buxton. After retiring, he lived in Hillsboro, ND. Lyle moved to Luther Memorial Home in 2009, where he enjoyed crossword puzzles and bingo. He was a lifetime member of Highland Lutheran Church, Cummings, ND.

Lyle is survived by his nephews, Craig (Nancy) Smith, Mark (Deb) Smith and his niece, Kristi (Mark) Jensen; sister-in-law, Lois Smith (Norris); five great nieces, three great nephews and one great-great nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Charles and Norris.

A Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Wildeman-Boulger Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Luther Memorial Home, Highland Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund or Red River Valley Hospice.
