I just learned of Rachel’s passing tonight. Ironic, given that I swear I saw her driving a truck that I passed just this past weekend – even though I hadn’t seen her since graduation. Obviously, it was just me remembering her, and her desire to be a truck driver in high school… RIP Rachel – sorry for noticing so late.

I learned this weekend from my brother Roger, about Rachel’s recent passing. I have fond memories of Rachel from our daily bus rides to Shanley. I remember her as a gentle quiet soul who had an imagination and sense of humor that I admired. May her heavenly home be beautiful and love filled. To family and friends of Rachel – my deep sympathy for your loss.

I worked alongside Rachel for many years and got to know her well. After she was let go at the plant I ran into her many times on the street, she always seemed to be busy with something.
She was always writing stories, usually about animals, making small things from cloth and other bits of stuff for her friends at work, cat toys for our cats. Taking care of stray cats at work was one other thing I will remember of Rachel.
Despite the problems she may have had she was always a good person to be around, we were all stunned to hear of her death but she did tell me she was having problems at one of the times I talked to her on the street and now I feel bad that I will no longer run into her and talk with her. She is a an Angel.

I was a teacher at Shanley when Rachel was there. Even though I haven’t seen her for many years, I remember her well. She has been in my thoughts and prayers over the years, as I pray for my former students every day. I offer my condolences to you, her mother and sister, and will keep you and Rachel in my prayers.

Please accept my condolences. Rachel and I went to high school together, and I always admired her determination and courage. She had a great sense of humor and was an amazing artist.

I’m so sorry to hear of Rachel’s passing. She has entered my thoughts often, though we lost touch after high school. I kept some of the horse drawings and little comic books she drew. She enjoyed putting models together and had an irrepressible desire to drive a semi someday. She got a kick out of making me laugh on the bus. Many life trials didn’t diminish her optimism, soft voice, open heart and quick smile. Much love to you, Rach.

I was a classmate of Rachel’s and I befriended her again about 12 yrs ago when I recognized her at Hornbachers. Rachel was very quiet but there was a kindness in her quietness. Her eyes lit up when we would talk about her cats and her love of horses. She had such a strong devotion to her Mother and Sister who she lived with. Over the years I would stop by and visit Rachel and her family and fill them in on my life. She always seemed to enjoy just listening to me talk. I will miss her simpleness of life and her kind spirit.

Fargo N DakI was very sorry to hear of Rachels’ passing. I saw and talked to her not long ago at WalMart. We had worked together at SDI for many years and had a lot of fun. She was always such a friendly person with a great smile. She had a real talent for drawing ,horses most of all, but in general and writing stories. I got several of both from her along with other things she made for me. I remember the way she’d feed the stray cats that lived in the trees at work and asked if she still had her famous orange Blazer. She was quite a gal and will be missed. RIP Rachel you may be gone but you won’t be forgotten, you touched my life.
