Rachel Doty

Rachel Doty Hillsboro, North Dakota Rachel passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the Eventide Living Center in Moorhead, MN at the age of 93. Rachel Morrison was born on October 16, 1915 in Ogema, MN, the daughter of Alan and Gussie (Evers) Morrison. She grew up in this area and graduated from Waubun High School. Rachel was united in marriage to Leo Doty on November 15, 1934. They made their home in Ogema where they worked and raised their family. Rachel and Leo moved to Hillsboro, ND in 1961 where she worked as a cook at the nursing home for many years. (retiring 3 different times!) Leo passed away on December 13, 1976. Rachel moved to the Eventide Living Center in Moorhead in 2006 where she has lived since. Rachel was very active at St. John Lutheran Church in Hillsboro where she spent many hours quilting. Over the years, she also made countless hand stitched quilts which she shared with her family and friends. Rachel is survived by her son, Donald (Jean) Doty of Hawley, MN; her daughter, Leola (Glenn) Davidson of Maddock, ND; her son in law, Glen Lougheed of Hillsboro; her grandchildren - Jeff (Pam) Rangen, Kristin (Tim) Kallenbach, Shauna (Wade) Adams, Camille (Scott) Schlagel, Brent (Karen) Lougheed, Ross (Sonja) Lougheed, Leah (Brad) Hanson, Wade (Tina) Doty; and her 17 great grandchildren. Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; her siblings; her daughter, Doris Lougheed; and an infant son, Ronald. FUNERAL SERVICE: 1 PM Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at St. John Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, ND VISITATION: one hour prior to the service in the church on Wednesday BURIAL: Immanuel Cemetery near Hillsboro, ND (in the spring) Arrangements entrusted to the care of Wildeman Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
