Rae Lynn Kapel, 74, Fargo passed away Saturday, June 04, 2016 at Sanford Palliative Care surrounded by her family.
Rae was born to Ben and Sarah Gillerstein in Fargo on January 25, 1942 at St. John’s Hospital. She grew up in Fargo and attended Fargo schools, graduating from Fargo Central High School in 1959. Rae Lynn married Jack Kapel in Fargo in August 1963. She worked for Dr. Kana for several years. She was in sales for many years. She ended her career at Tri- State Distributing, where she worked for over 20 years. Rae was also involved in the Chamber of Commerce. She was an avid shopper who enjoyed dining out and spending time with her many friends.
She is survived by her 2 sons, Marc (Diana Borg), West Fargo and Mike (Katie), West Fargo; 4 grandchildren, Ben (Nicki) Kapel, Katie Kapel, Jake Kapel and Dakotah Kapel; 1 great grandchild, Ella Kapel.

Rae, I will miss you and our talks when we’d see each other. I remember all the projects we worked on at the Chamber and how much fun we had over the years comparing notes on customers and mutual friends. You always had a good laugh and great ideas for promoting. So many people will be missing you. I am sure the good Lord welcomed you with open arms and was waiting to hear your next idea. My dear friend Rae . . . . oh how sad I am to know you have left your earthly life. But, I rejoice with the angels in heaven that you are now free of the pain and misery that you have so suffered. I will miss all of our fun conversations and meals at fun placed you picked for us. Oh yes, we go way back to 1959 and St. John’s Hospital….oh, for all of those memories and I am blessed to have them. I know you are at peace with your Maker and that you are welcomed to heave with all the love He can give you. I love you!!
Marc I was saddened with the news of your Mother passing. I want you to know that you and your family are in my prayers this day.
I knew Rae from 2001 to 2009. She was my sales rep for almost 8 years and such a joy! I adored her to pieces. When it was time for me to place another order I looked so incredibly forward to Rae’s visit that I would schedule an hour for it, even though we both knew the order process would only take 15 minutes. In fact, we would oftentimes take even more than an hour and neither of us would care. Rae was such a light! She was a compassionate and listening ear when I needed one and a hysterical girlfriend when I needed one of those, too. I still laugh remembering her stories! I only ran into Rae once after I left the company and position that had her path crossing mine, and when I did she embraced me like an old friend. Rae is one of those rare spirits who makes you happy to be alive. She was fearless, candid, kind and fully of joy – all rolled into one. I was saddened to hear of her passing – I wanted to write and share with her family (who she spoke of often) how much I enjoyed Rae. I will never forget her.
Rae worked hard and lived with passion. The pain is gone and she is free to soar with the Angels. We will miss you, girl.

Rae, I’m going to miss you so much. All the laughing and planning we did. We were good together. All I can say is “We done good”. Now you can start decorating all the banquets they have in Heaven and I know they will be BEAUTIFUL. God I’m going to miss you. Hedi
I knew Rae through my admin asst position at the Concordia athletic department. It was always enjoyable when she came to visit and/or deliver products purchased from Tri-State. We would visit and sometimes go to coffee. I remember Rae as a hard worker, a generous and kind person. Her sense of humor was refreshing. I will remember Rae with great fondness. Rest in peace.
I’m so sorry to hear of Rae’s passing. She was a wonderful lady who loved her family deeply. She was so devoted and proud of her family and friends. May the Lord bless you all and may her warm memories fill your heart in this time of sad and deep bereavement.

I was so saddened to hear about Rae’s death. She was always such
an “alive” gal and I loved talking to her. She and I shared the joy of being
Ella’s great grandmas. I will always remember the times I had a fun chat

I am so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. I always enjoyed seeing her while you were growing up and when I worked at Herbergers. I just saw her recently out shopping and had a great visit. Sending prayers. She will be missed.
I remember Rae as Dr. Kana’s receptionist! She and my mother would always have a great time visiting!! She was always so friendly!! Little did I know that we would cross paths again when I began my position in Concordia’s athletic department! It was a joy to visit with her again. I know she is at peace and visiting with my mother again!! I can almost hear them both laughing!!!
My heart is saddened by your departure Miss Rae Rae….You were like a second mom to me and I cherish the long talks we had and the love we shared. Thank you for being an amazing mentor to me thru out the years. You were always such a beautiful lady. My deepest heartfelt condolences to Marc and Mike and their beautiful families. Simply put, Rae was just a lovely person! I met her about eight years ago when she was my sales rep at Tri-State. I knew she always worked her butt off for me – but it was more than just a working relationship. I will always remember our many conversations about life. She was such a strong woman! She absolutely adored her family and reminded me to do the same with my daughter. And she ALWAYS had a smile on her face and positive words to say, even when she wasn’t feeling well the last couple of years. Please know that Rae inspired many of us with her strength! And we will all miss our friend!
RAE you will be missed. Always enjoyed our visits when you would come to our office. You were truly a “RAE” of sunshine.
Rae I will miss you such a friendly, kind joy of a person to be around . When it came time to order Christmas gifts for The Forum ‘s carriers every year it was so great to work with her . She took such great care of us. We would go to lunch and she would have all these ideas and of course she would talk about her sons and grand children what a great role model she was. Rae was such a wonderful person. I’ve known her my whole life. It was always great running into Rae here and there.

We were classmates. Our sympathies to the family of Rae Lynn.
I’ll never forget how Rae & I met. April 1975. We were moving into or new TownHome on S.16 1/2 St.. Her sons were such a delight ! I’ll remember her warm smile & infectious laughter always. We moved from Fargo in 1981, but kept in touch all these many years. I’ll miss the birthday phone chats & telling her to hug the boys for Rosie!
