randi j. komanetz
Randi J. Komanetz, age 59, passed away on Sunday, January 14, at Sanford in Fargo, ND. Randi was born on March 29, 1958 in Fargo, ND to Robert and Phyllis (Thorsen) Rostad. Her mother met and married Dr. Wei Kong Chang in 1976. Randi graduated from Fargo South High school and went on to study Early Childhood Education and Art at Mayville State University. She married Chris Corbet, and together they had one son. Following her divorce from Chris, she married Joseph Komanetz in June, 1986, and the couple made their home in Mapleton, ND. She worked for Northwest Professional Color, then Scherling Photography for many years, and finally for US Bank for the remainder of her working career. Randi had a deep love of art, and her work reflected that. She drew artwork onto photographs for Northwest Professional Color, and she fixed pictures for Scherling Photography. She loved to sketch, draw, paint and she kept her drawings in albums. She also had a passion for music, and it was a big part of her life. She liked to listen to her records, or just have the radio on. She loved taking out her guitar and playing music; for her family at home as well as others. Randi is survived by her husband of 31 years, Joseph Komanetz, Mapleton, ND; five children: Joseph (Amanda) Komanetz, Fort Riley, KS; Michael (Geni) Komanetz, Snoqualmie, WA; Noah Komanetz, Mapleton, ND; Kristina (Grant) Tegtmeier, Casselton, ND; and Logan Komanetz, Fargo, ND; her mother, Phyllis Chang, Sumner, IA; three siblings: Allan (Laurie) Rostad, Pelican Rapids, MN; Kari Beth (Gary) Naasz, Moorhead, MN; and Tracy (Mark) Purath, Racine, WI; 7 grandchildren and 16 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert, and Stepfather, Dr. Wei Kong Chang.

  6. Randi, What a beautiful spirit you are! And now, an angel in heaven, no doubt. Randi and her family spent a good part of their childhood living in the house behind our family home. We became friends that moved apart, but with a friendship that would rekindle time and again as we ran into each other around town, reminiscing and sharing in our life journey. Randi had beautiful laughter and a humorous personality that I loved to be around. She was always ridiculously funny, about anything and everything. She had a quick wit that usually surprised me and always made me laugh or smile! Randi you will be forever remembered and forever cherished in my heart. R.I.P. my friend, RIP
