Raphael (Ralph) Hoff died Tuesday, September 6, 2005, surrounded by loving friends. Ralph was born November 20, 1932 in Otter Creek, ND and grew up on a farm near there. He was the son of Raphael and Anna Hoff. He enlisted in the Army in 1953. He served in the Army for a number of years and served in the Vietnam and Korean wars. On September 5, 1959 he married Caretta Halvorson in West Berlin, Germany. Ralph and Caretta settled in Cincinnati, Ohio where Ralph worked for Proctor and Gamble. While living in Cincinnati, he attended the University of Cincinnati. Ralph and Caretta had two sons, David and Dennis. After the birth of their sons, Ralph and Caretta moved to Fargo in 1980. He attended North Dakota State University. Ralph spent many of his last years working at the American Legion serving as Post Commander and was current First District Commander. He enjoyed fishing and attending NDSU Bison athletic events. Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, his dear wife Caretta in 2003, and a brother Matt, Bismarck, ND. He is survived by his sons David and Dennis (Alison), both of Fargo; his brothers, George (Irma), Helena, MT, Harold (Ann), Center, ND, and Hillary ?Larry? (Bette), Crookston, MN; his sisters, Margaret (Leander) Ternes, Mandan, ND, Dorothy (Bernard) Bohl, New Hope, MN, and Beatrice Zander, Mandan, ND.
