Raymond Bratager

Raymond LeRoy Bratager, 86, rural Nielsville, MN died in his home Tuesday, August 2, 2011 surrounded by family and assisted by Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Raymond was born January 16, 1925 in rural Nielsville to Carl and Sophia (Rensland) Bratager. He grew up in Bingham Township on a farm and attended rural country school. He farmed with his family until being drafted into the Army during the Korean War serving in Korea from 1950-1952. After he was discharged he returned to the family farm. They expanded their farming operation by purchasing the family's original homestead and adjacent land. Raymond lived on this farmstead until his passing.
Raymond was an avid sports fan, loved farming and visiting with family, friends, and neighbors. He was a member of the American Legion in Nielsville and a lifetime member of Salem Lutheran Church.
Raymond is survived by his sisters, Lois (Clifton) Waslien, Grand Forks, ND, Ione (Robert) Lian, Fisher, MN, Carol (Bill) Glass, Borup, MN; sister-in-law, Bette Bratager and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews and great great niece and nephew.
He is preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Lenora Bratager; brothers, Sherman, Kermit, Myron; infant sister, Clara.

I sure will miss you Uncle Ray, you always had a smile on your face when ever we came to visit. You were an animal lover like myself and always welcomed any of my “kids” Into the house to visit.
I will miss stopping by for a Christmas visit and bringing you some goodies. And my best memory is of you and how you would torture us kids while you went back for 2nds and sometimes a 3 helping at Christmas dinner. And we were so antsy wanting to open our gifts! You will be missed by many…. love you Uncle Ray. May you rest in peace, Shari Lynn
