Fargo, North Dakota

Rex Oster, age 74, of Fargo, North Dakota, died on Thursday, February 5, 2004, at MeritCare Hospital South University, Palliative Care Unit, in Fargo.

Rex was born on April 7, 1929, in Minot, North Dakota, the son of Frank and Alice (Childs) Oster. He grew up on the family farm in Saline Township, near Granville, North Dakota, where he attended school. After his schooling, Rex worked for area farmers prior to serving his country in the United States Army. Rex was united in marriage to Marjorie Erickson on January 27, 1951. They made their home in Minot where they raised their two daughters, Dianne and Barbara. Rex worked for White?s Creamery, Montana Dakota Utilities, and the YMCA, all in Minot, prior to moving to the Veterans Home in Lisbon. Rex was united in marriage to Faye Buchholz on June 8, 1969, and they made their home in Fargo. Prior to his retirement in 1988, he worked for Crescent Jewelers, and Carousal Jewelers.

Rex was a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fargo, prior to joining Olivet Lutheran Church. He was active in the Senior Citizen?s Group at the Depot where he enjoyed playing pool, cards, and cribbage. He also spent many hours volunteering at the Veteran?s Hospital in Fargo, was a member of the 55 Singles Club, and the Epilepsy Foundation.

Rex is survived by his daughters, Dianne Kluck of Blaine, Minnesota; and Barb Fallen of Bismarck, North Dakota; his grandchildren, Melissa (Jamey) Tobiason and their children, Courtney and Bailey; Michelle Kluck; Kristin and Jennifer Fallen; his 4 step granddaughters, 2 step grandsons, 2 step great granddaughters, and 2 step great grandsons. He is also survived by his brothers, Don (Joyce) Oster of Mesa, Arizona and Tommy (Marlene) Oster of Bottineau, North Dakota; and his sister, Betty (Joe) Lundberg of Gold Canyon, Arizona; his cousin, Ralph Carty; and many nieces and nephews.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Erma McFarlane and Mildred ?Brownie? Haugrose; and his brothers, Melvin, Dave and Henry ?Gene? Oster.

FUNERAL: 11 AM Monday, February 9, 2004, at Olivet Lutheran Church in Fargo

VISITATION: 1-5 PM Sunday at Boulger Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Monday

PRAYER SERVICE: 5 PM Sunday at Boulger Funeral Home

BURIAL: Rosehill Cemetery in Minot, North Dakota, in the spring
