Richard Leo Haider, Sr., age 84 of Fargo, died Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo. Richard was born on March 2, 1923 in Burlington, ND to Michael and Margueritte (Buee) Haider. He graduated from Burlington High School and joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and was involved in building roads in South Dakota. He served in the Army from 1942-1945 with the 94th Medical Gas Treatment. Richard married Eleanor M. Brown on June 12, 1946. After his military service, Richard worked for Minot Steam Laundry, Westlan Oil Company and Swift and Company in Minot, transferring to Fargo in 1961. He retired in 1980. Richard was an avid bowler, fisherman and golfer and was a lifetime member of the West Fargo VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Michael Haider; grandson, Troy Richard Haider; brothers, Arthur, Benjamin and Irvin. Richard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eleanor; children, Constance (Dave) Nasan of Washington, Carol (Dennis) Loegering of Oklahoma, Richard Jr. of Florida, Deborah (John) Payne of Grand Forks, ND, Marcia (Terry) LaBounty of South Dakota, Robert (Linda) of Fargo, Jeanne (Gene) Rebarchek of Fargo, Marijo (Pat) Norman of Minnesota, Craig (Michelle) of Fargo; 24 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brothers, Herb (Danni), Robert (Esther), Ray, Melvin (Della), Michael (Connie), Daniel (Shirley), Leo (Kathy); sisters, Marge Nass, Darlene Nelson, Linda (George) Davenport; aunts, Angeline Hegreberg and Pauline Lokken. Visitation: Thursday, August 30 from 6-8 pm at Church of the Nativity, Fargo and Friday one hour prior to Mass at the church. Prayer Service: Thursday at 7:00 at the church. Funeral Mass: Friday, August 31 at 2:30 pm at Church of the Nativity, Fargo. Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo. Arrangements entrusted to Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
