Richard (Dick) Rayl passed away approximately 2:00pm on Saturday, July 2, 2005; Born in Sidney, Nebraska to Roy and Ellen Rayl on July 5, 1939.

Dick graduated from University Nebraska – Kearney in 1961. He was joined in marriage to Jean Cordle on June 13, 1959 at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney.

Dick and Jean lived in Nebraska before moving to West Fargo with their four children in 1973 where he became president of Westgo Industries.

He joined Governor Sinner’s staff as Director of the Office of Management and Budget in 1984.

In 1991 he became Vice President for Business and Finance at North Dakota State University until his recent retirement on June 30th of this year. Dick also served on many corporate boards both locally and nationally.

Dick’s greatest joy in life was being surrounded by his family and friends at his lake cottage on Lake Maude. He also enjoyed NDSU athletics, Nebraska football, golf and cooking.

Loved dearly by his family; his best friend and wife Jeannie of Fargo, ND, Daughter, Leslie (Dave) Maynard of Glendale Az., sons, Stephen (Jenny) of Milwaukee, WI., Rob (Traci) of Chicago, IL., Rick (Kim) of Fargo, Mother-in-law, Ruby (Mel) Lammers of Orlando, FL., Four Bothers, Jim (Joanne), Dallas, Bob (Judy), Denver, Bill (Helen), Denver, Dennis (Betty), St. Paul, Late Brother Duane & surviving spouse Jan, Lansing, Grandchildren Mellisa Maynard, Josh Maynard, Jon Maynard, David Maynard, Jessie Maynard, Jordan Maynard, Killian Rayl, Tucker Rayl, Conor Rayl, Mckenna Rayl and many loved nieces and nephews.

A scholarship fund will be set up as a memorial to Dick at NDSU.


Funeral 10:30 Thursday, Church of the Nativity, Fargo. Prayer Service 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in Nativity. Visitation from 6:00 to 7:00 Wednesday in the church and one hour before the funeral in the church. Interment at St. Mary’s of the Lake, Minnesota.
