Richard Tewksbury, 81, died Jan. 25, 2012 at the Veteran's Hospital in Fargo, ND. 

He was born in Grafton, ND on March 13, 1930 to Warren and Nettie (Starkson) Tewksbury of Larimore, ND.  At a young age he moved with his parents to Cando, ND and completed his high school education at Washburn, ND.  Richard attended NDSU, graduating with a degree in agriculture in 1954. He was active in student government, AGR fraternity, Blue Key and others.  He was given the honor of being a "Senior who made things Go".  Activated as a member of the Fargo Air National Guards he served in the Korean War.  On Dec. 28, 1952 he married Juanita Olson of Edgeley, ND .  After graduation from NDSU he taught in Medina ND starting a new FFA chapter.  Richard and Juanita moved to Edgeley in 1956 where they had a dairy and crop farm.  He was a member and officer of Zion Lutheran Church, Board Member of the Edgeley Creamery and Farmers Union Oil Co.  He was on the organizing committee that started the first kindergarten in Edgeley.  He retired from farming in 1998 moving to Fargo, ND and wintering in Mesa, AZ.

Richard is survived by his wife of 59 years, Juanita. One son, Scott (Jodi Miedema), Edgeley; 2 daughters, Deborah (Bobby) Koepplin, Valley City, ND and Kathy (Douglas) Hegseth, Lakeville MN, 7 grandchildren, 1 great  grandchild, 1 brother Lewellyn (Florence) Tewksbury, 2 sisters; Ardis (Harry) Schacher, Jeannie (John) Bargen.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law, Bill Byle  & a sister-in-law Cleojean Roster.

    Our sincere sympathy to all the family. Our association with your family through 4-H and square dancing and later with the informal visits at Southpointe have all been pleasant experiences. We have a long history with the family including Dick’s parents and brother. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

    neigborhood and think of you often. Christmas time isn’t the same without you! I remember how Dick loved to put up Christmas decorations and helped me with mine!
    I will never forget Dick’s wonderful smile and his willingness to help with whatever task needed doing. I’m glad I knew him!

  8. Thoughts and prayers are with the Tewksbury family. Remembering wonderful memories at work spent with Dick and the Osgood Senior mens league crew Tuesday mornings over the years. You will be missed greatly. Will make an extra cup of coffee for ya!

  10. Fargo Dick was one of your original members of the Osgood Senior Men’s League. He always had a smile and was a kind man. We missed him this year when he wasn’t able to play. He’s golfing in better places now but we will think of him every Tuesday morning at Osgood and miss him.
