Robert M. Evenson, 77, Fargo, died Sunday, October 28, 2007 at his home surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. He was born March 21, 1930 in Wahpeton, ND to Ole and Bessie Evenson. He graduated from Grand Forks Central in 1949. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1950 and served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954. Robert was employed by Northern Pacific Railroad on September 2, 1949 in East Grand Forks, MN. He was promoted to Engineer in 1957 for Burlington Northern Railroad, and retired with 43 years of service. Bob took the handball championship 5 years in Grand Forks, ND and at the age of 42 he was the Fargo, ND handball champion at the YMCA. He enjoyed spending many hours at the gym playing handball and lifting weights. Bob enjoyed hunting crane and Canadian geese, walleye fishing, reading, and above all his cabin where he spent many enjoyable days at Lake Sakakawea with his wife, Agnes, family, friends, and his hunting buddies. He married Barbara A. Nelson in 1954. They had 6 children, Susan (Clayton) Johnson, Grand Forks, ND, Charlene Eckland, Twin Valley, MN, Sherrie Evenson, Portland, OR, Brad (Pam) Evenson, Arvilla, ND, and Vickie Evenson, Grand Forks, ND. In 1974 he married Agnes A. Roerick and became a father to Sherry (Dave) Frahm, Glyndon, MN, Vonda (Jim) Leiner, Horace, ND, and Thomas (Jodi) Evenson, Lester Prairie, MN. Robert is also survived by 1 brother, Donald (Ida Mae) Evenson, Grand Forks, ND; 24 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and 1 nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, James. Visitation: 5:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at Boulger Funeral Home (123 10th St. South) Fargo, ND with a prayer service following.
