Robert A. Sailer, 75, West Fargo, passed away Monday, July 1 at his home.

Bob was born October 28, 1937 in Sioux City, IA to John and Gertrude (McNulty) Sailer.  Bob moved around during his childhood, graduating from Mt. Carmel High School, Chicago, IL in 1955.  Bob attended St. Mary’s College in Winona, MN as well as NDSU.  He worked at Dakota Bank in Fargo before enlisting in the U.S. Army on January 12, 1961.  He was stationed at Ft. Riley, KS before being sent to Korea.  He moved back to Minneapolis before being honorably discharged on December 31, 1966.  Bob married Margaret Jamieson on July 20, 1963 in Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Fargo.

The couple made their home in Arizona from 1965-1975 where he worked as a loan officer and bank manager.  Bob was also very involved with the Lions Club in Arizona.  They then moved to Moorhead, MN where he worked at the SuperValu warehouse.  Bob retired in 2001 after 25 years of service.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family (especially his grandchildren.)  He enjoyed attending all their activities ranging from baseball, hockey, bowling, concerts to plays.

Most knew Bob through his passion for auto racing, from working on Greg Johnson’s pit crew to helping his son Scott get started in racing and most recently helping his grandkids (Brandon, Reile and Gwenyth) with their racing/go-karting.

Bob is survived by Margaret Sailer, Moorhead, MN; children, Sandra Ferris, Moorhead, MN, Karen (Eric) Kessler, Fargo, ND, Scott (Darcelle) Sailer, Fargo, ND; sister, Stephanie Reining, Olympia, WA; grandchildren, Michael and Brandon Ferris, Lauren Kessler, and Reile and Gwenyth Sailer.
