Roger J. Duval, 83, Fargo, ND died Monday, June 25, 2007 in his home under the care of Hospice surrounded by his loving family. Roger J. Duval was born April 5, 1924 on the family farm near Hickson, ND, the son of Edward and Albertine (Sauvageau) Duval. He grew up in the Hickson/Horace area and attended school at St. Benedict?s School in Wild Rice. He was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1944 and served in Japan following World War II. After his discharge in 1946, he moved to Fargo and began his work career in roofing. Roger and Dorothy C. Symanietz were married July 7, 1948 in St. James Catholic Church, Randall, MN. They made their home in Fargo. He then worked for Interstate Seed and Grain as a warehouse man for 20 years. After that he worked for NDSU Food Service for 20 years, retiring in 1987. He spent his ?retirement? volunteering with many organizations, in particular St. Mary?s Cathedral. Roger was a natural engineer and skilled carpenter and could fix anything. He would never throw anything away as he might find ?a use for it in the future.? Roger enjoyed gardening, and was well known for his vegetables, especially tomatoes. He was a kind and gentle man and enjoyed time with his family at their lake cabin on Upper Cormorant Lake. Roger is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his children, David (Sally), West Fargo, ND, Janice (Larry) Olson, Thief River Falls, MN, Kerry (Alison), Moorhead, MN, Kelly (Deb Johnson), New Auburn, WI, Dale, Fargo, ND; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Arcade (Marie), Fern (Betty), and Don (Bobbi), all Fargo. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Gabby.
