Ronald Vandrovec

Ronald E. Vandrovec Ronald Earl Vandrovec, 64, Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, December 6, 2006. He was surrounded by his loving family at St. Mary?s Hospital in Duluth, MN. Ronald was born on June 19, 1942, in Valley City, ND. He was the son of Anton and Irene Vandrovec. Ron grew up in Valley City, and attended St. Catherine?s Grade and High Schools. Ronald graduated in Electrical Technology from the State School of Science in Wahpeton. Ron was an avid basketball and baseball player during his high school and college days. In 2004, Ron completed a 42 year career as an electrician, retiring from Fritz Electric. Ron was very proud of his work as a Union Journeyman Electrician. During his retirement, he began driving a Handi-Wheels van. This brought him much enjoyment, as he was able to help people in need of assistance. Ron married Beverly Thompson on November 16, 1974. They made their home in Fargo, and were blessed with two children. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. For over 30 years, he was a member of Holy Spirit Church. Throughout his life, family and faith were his priorities. Ronald truly enjoyed gardening and completing home improvement projects. He also assisted neighbors and friends with their tasks, making him a popular man. Ron always believed if a job was worth doing, it was worth doing well. At the end of his life, Ron was involved in a research study taking place in Duluth, MN. He felt it was important to gain knowledge to help future patients with the same rare form of cancer that he had. Ron?s family appreciated the exceptional kindness and care that was provided by the entire staff at St. Mary?s Hospital and Duluth Clinic (SMDC) Oncology Department in Duluth, MN. Ronald is survived by his wife, Beverly; son, Chad (Sara) of Wauwatosa, WI; and daughter, Lisa of St. Paul, MN. Ron also leaves his mother, Irene of Valley City, ND; four brothers, Eugene (Alicia) of Alexandria, VA, Robert (Marlys) of Nacogdoches, TX, Michael (Kathy) of Fargo, ND, and Neil (Jill) of Valley City, ND; three sisters, Ann Vandrovec of Valley City, ND, Jane (Timothy) Kelley of Cottage Grove, MN, and Linda (Robert) Retterath of Belgrade, MT. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Anton Vandrovec. Visitation: Sunday, December 10, 2006, at 5 PM to 7 PM at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, and in the church Monday one hour before the funeral. Prayer Service: Sunday at 7 PM at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Funeral Mass: Monday, December 11, 2006 at 2 PM at Holy Spirit Church, Fargo. Interment: Holy Cross North Cemetery, Fargo.
