Roy Johnson

Dr. Roy A. Johnson, age 94 of Fargo, ND, formerly of Minneapolis, MN passed peacefully on May 14, 2013 Roy was born in Minneapolis, MN on March 16, 1919, after graduating from Minneapolis South High School, he attended Augsburg College, and Univ. of Minnesota dental school, graduating in March of 1943. After graduation he entered the Army Dental Corps and was assigned to posts in California and India, returning to marry his high school sweetheart, Marion Arliss Erickson on October 16, 1943. Roy joined the Army Reserve after his active duty and retired as a full colonel and chief of dental service for the 5501 USAR hospital at Fort Snelling. Roy was active in community affairs, giving his time to the Martin Luther King Center in St.Paul, MN and the NIP center in Minneapolis, MN. Roy also worked with the parochial school dental hygiene program, as well as conducting courses in dental education and oral hygiene for student nurses at Lutheran Deaconess Hospital as part of an Augsburg College curriculum developed by Roy. Roy enjoyed playing golf at Midland Hills Country Club and fishing trips with lifelong friends. Roy Moved from Minneaplois to Touchmark Retirement facilty in Fargo, ND in 2007, He is preceded in death by his parents, Anfin Horness, George and Mary Johnson, brother Donald, sister Beverly, amd wife Marion. Roy is survived by his sons Donald (Paula), Mark ( CHarlene),brother David, Granddaughters Kaisa Johnson, and Jessica Graham, great- grandchildren, Vivienne, Fletcher, and Brody.
