Ruth passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at her home at Riverview Place in Fargo, surrounded by her loving family. Ruth Schach was born to Theodore and Meta (Rohde) Schach on December 17, 1919 at Perth, ND. She attended all 12 years at Perth School and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church at Perth. Her bible verse was Isaiah 41: 10. Ruth was united in marriage to Raymond Bernstein on November 29, 1946. They made their home and farmed for 35 years near Durbin, ND. They retired from farming and moved into Davenport in 1980. Ray passed away on July 4, 1996. After his death, Ruth continued to make her home in Davenport until moving to Riverview Place in August of 2014. Throughout her life, Ruth loved spending time raising her family and working on the family farm. She also worked for American Crystal during harvest times and for Schmitty’s Deer Processing in Davenport. She loved her time fishing at the lakes, tending to her flowers, and just being “on the go”. For many years, Ruth treasured her weekly card games with her Davenport friends. Ruth is survived by her three children – Delman (Val) Bernstein of Davenport, ND; Eldon (Vicky) Bernstein of Lisbon, ND; and Garnet (Harold) Kilichowski of Davenport, ND; her three grandchildren – Wade (Dawn) Bernstein of Billings, MT; Owen (Jess) Kilichowski of Minot, ND; and Molly Bernstein of Davenport, ND; two very special great grandchildren – Preston and Adilyn; and her step granddaughter, Amy Compson. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; her son, Duane; and her sister, Helen Mickelson. VISITATION: 5-7 PM Friday at Fredrikson-Boulger Funeral Chapel in Kindred, ND – and also one hour prior to the service in the church on Saturday PRAYER SERVICE: 7 PM Friday at Fredrikson-Boulger Funeral Chapel FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM Saturday at Canaan Moravian Church near Davenport, ND BURIAL: Canaan Moravian Cemetery

  4. I wish I could be there to give you all hugs and try to say all the appropriate things, but distance separates us but know that my thoughts and prayers are with each and everyone of you. Ruth was an amazing lady and lived a long a full life. She touched everyone that knew her with her grace and charm and that beautiful smile. I loved the twinkle in her eye, that always seemed to be there. She will be missed by all us earthly beings, but Im sure she is having a great time in heaven catching up on things with Ray, family and friends. Til we meet again in heaven Ruth, it was a blessing to have you in my life!!
