Sally Brackin, 75, Fargo, passed away at Rosewood on Broadway Monday, December 01, 2008.
Sally Ann Garvin was born to Hugh and Marie (Gengler) Garvin on May 16, 1933 in Marcus, IA. She attended school in Sioux City and graduated from Heelan High School there. She worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in several different capacities, including that of operator for three years. She married Roland James Luken in Sioux City, IA on May 27, 1953. The family moved to Fargo, ND in 1962. Sally operated Seams N? Such for many years out of her home. She also worked as a seamstress for many different companies throughout her life. She married Dr. John Brackin on July 2, 1992 in Fargo, ND. He died on April 22, 1997. Sally made many quilts, clothes, hats, etc. which she donated to MeritCare Hospital for infants and children and to comfort families who had lost newborns.
Sally is survived by her children: Jerry Luken (Sarita Kilde), Dilworth, MN, Susan Curley (Mike), Windom, MN, Margie Scheving (Randy), East Grand Forks, MN, Julie Frovarp (Calmer), Moorhead, MN, Cathy Kimball, Moorhead, MN;14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; her sister: Janet Holincheck (John), Overland Park, KS.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John Brackin; a brother: Leo Garvin; and three grandchildren: Sara and Savanna Scheving and Shawn Frovarp.
The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. There will be a visitation in the church from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at Holy Cross North Cemetery.
