The Funeral Service for Ralph Schmidt will be held 1 PM Wednesday, January 15, 2003, at Church of The Holy Spirit in Fargo. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 - 7 PM at Boulger Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 PM. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Wednesday. Burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fargo. Ralph died on Monday, January 13, 2003, at Meritcare Hospital in Fargo at the age of 79 surrounded by his loving family.. Raphael ?Ralph? J. Schmidt was born on August 25, 1923, in Emmons County, North Dakota, the son of Sebastian and Eva (Senger) Schmidt. He grew up and attended school near Strasbourg, North Dakota. After his schooling he proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II, entering in December 12, 1944, until November 25, 1946. After his discharge he attended Bottineau School of Forestry in Bottineau, North Dakota, and later Hanson?s Auto School in Fargo. Raphael was united in marriage to Agnes Schatz on September 15, 1952. They made their home in Fargo where he worked for Branick Manufacturing Company for 36 years until his retirement. Ralph was a proud member of the Fargo American Legion, the Teamsters Union, a lifetime member of the West Fargo VFW, and a member of Church of the Holy Spirit. Ralph was a very special person who lived life to the fullest, enjoying his retirement years which were enriched by his family and many friends. Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Agnes of Fargo; and his children, Nancy (John) Gee of Richardson, Texas; and David A. (Loretta) Schmidt of Littleton, Colorado; and grandchildren, Monica and Annemarie Gee, and Andrea, Michael, and Daniel Schmidt. He is also survived by his sisters and brother, Alice Mattern of Strasburg, North Dakota; Francis (Katerina) Schmidt of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Clara Hedin of Moorhead, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Schmidt, and his sister, Rosemary Heintz. (Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo)
