Obituary

Sharon (Discher) Kerr, 73, of Fargo passed away on Monday, May 23rd, 2016 at Sanford Health in Fargo.

Sharon was born December 15, 1942 in Fargo to Hubert “Hoot” and Anna (Anderson) Discher. She graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1960 and went on to achieve an associate degree from Interstate Business College. One day in 1962, Sharon went bowling with her cousins and met Wayne Kerr. He was working at Red River Lanes in Fargo. When she purchased a new bowling ball, he personally delivered it to her house so he could ask her on a date. They were married on May 16th, 1964.

Right after Interstate Business College Sharon worked for the IRS for a number of years. In 1970, Wayne and Sharon started Wayne Trophies where she worked alongside Wayne for 20 years. After retiring from the trophy business, she worked at Ethan Allen as their receptionist.

Sharon was an active member of the Fargo Moravian Church for many years and shared her musical talent as their organist for 25 years. Sharon had a great love for the many dogs she had throughout her life and enjoyed doing latch hook as a hobby. She also was a league bowler for many years in Fargo. Sharon’s greatest joy in life was her family. Spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren was such a blessing to her.

She is survived by her husband Wayne of 52 years, 2 daughters Julie (Curt) Grant, Fargo, Jodi (Craig) Hanson, Fargo, brother Jack (Ruth) Discher, Fargo, sister Diane (Neil) Heier, Harwood, brother-in-law Jack Lavold, Bemidji, 4 grandchildren, Amanda and Benson Grant, Katie and Cole Hanson, and 6 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Hubert and Anna and sister-in-law Betty Lavold.

Visitation is Friday, May 27th from 5:30-7:30pm at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Funeral is Saturday, May 28th at 10:00am at Shepherd of the Prairie Moravian Church, 6151 25th St. S. Fargo, ND.

Wayne, Julie, and Jodi, so sorry for your loss. Sharon will always be remembered by her great smile and always being so happy and nice to me—even when I was a little bowling kid back in the old times at Red River.
