Sharon Thiessen, 78, West Fargo, ND passed away Saturday, April 6, 2019 at her son’s home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Sharon was born on November 27, 1940 at St. John’s Hospital in Fargo, ND to Peter and Marcella Thiessen. She had a wonderful childhood growing up in West Fargo with her 4 siblings. As a teenager, she enjoyed working at her Uncle Herb’s Chinese Restaurant and also hanging out with friends at the downtown bus depot and going to the movies. Sharon married Marvin Eugene Dux on May 18, 1956 at Moorhead, MN. Together, they had 4 children; Kevin (Sandra) Dux, Kim (Bill) LaFleur, Kyle (Jacqie) Dux, Kurtis (Tracy) Dux. Sharon studied nursing in Detroit Lakes, MN and received her LPN degree in 1975, scoring in the top 1% in the nation that year. She returned to college to continue her education and graduated Summa Cum Laude with an RN degree from Brainerd Central College in 1996. During the course of her career, she won several awards and retired in 2014 after a 38 year distinguished career. In all of her accomplishments, she is most proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Kim (Bill) LaFleur, Apache Junction, AZ, Kyle (Jacqie) Dux, Pelican Rapids, MN, Kurtis (Tracy) Dux, West Fargo, ND; daughter-in-law, Sandra Dux; 8 grandchildren, Ronda (Paul) Lemieux, Peter Dux, Sara (Shaun) Just, Barbara Durden, Jared (Danielle) Dux, Jerel Dux, Tasha (Jesse) Vrem and Shawn Aker; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brother, Roger (Dorinda) Thiessen, Buckeye, AZ; 2 step-sisters, Betty Olmsted, West Fargo, ND and Jeannie Jenner, West Fargo, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Kevin Dux, sister, Beverly Gabriel, 2 brothers, Stanley Thiessen, Larry Thiessen, great-grandchild, Lily Dockter and her fur baby kitty, Omar. Memorial Service: 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Boulger Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, Fargo with visitation starting at 5:00 P.M. Like Sharon always said, “I’ll meet you all at the East Gate of the new Jerusalem.”
