Steve Gorman, Jr. died October 29th, 2021 at Sanford Health of Fargo, ND. He was 96. There will be a mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 13th at Noon at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fargo. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 11am at St. Anthony’s.
Stephen Thomas (“Bud”) Gorman, Jr. was born on December 4, 1924 in Fargo, ND to Stephen Thomas Gorman, Sr. and Gladys (Mock) Gorman. He had one sister, Beverly (Gorman) Coffman. Steve married Mary K (Sullivan) Johnson in 1952 and they had 3 children: Kathy, Steve III and Beth. At the time of Mary K’s Death in 2013, they had been married for 60 years.
Steve attended grade school and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Fargo. He also attended St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN until enlisting in the US Navy and serving on a PT Boat in the Pacific in World War II. After the war, he attended the Wahpeton State College of Science. He began his career at Knight Printing Company as a salesman, eventually serving as owner and President for nearly 40 years.
He was very active in the community throughout his lifetime, serving as an early President of the NDSU Team Makers Club, the Elks, the Jaycees, the Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, Board of TNI (The Neuropsychiatric Institute), the Rotary Club and the Fargo Country Club.
He was elected to the Legislature as a Representative from Fargo’s District 46th in 1987 and served until 1996.
Steve loved to tell stories of his Dad, Steve Sr. and the Grand Recreation Parlor and serving as bat boy for the Fargo Moorhead Twins. He also loved golf and was proud to still be walking the first nine whenever he played at the Country Club. And, he was an avid Bison football fan!
Steve is survived by his children: Kathy (George) Keiser of Bismarck ND and Beth (Randy) Hollingsworth of Maple Grove MN; His grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Sarah Keiser and children Ivy, Hannah and Tess of Bismarck ND; Katie (Dennis) Rush and children Connor and Molly of Bozeman; Christie (David) Duininck and children Zackary and Austin of Sartell, MN; Brian (Maddie) Hollingsworth of Maple Grove MN; and sisters-in-law: Pat Phillipp and Gerry Schoener, both of Fargo ND, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary K, son Steve III, parents Steve Sr. and Gladys, sister Beverly Coffman and niece, Terrianne Theis.

Steve and I lived next door to each other at 1001 and 1005 Broadway from birth until they moved to the south side.st Mary’s and the academy. I made a trip ba cl home a couple years ago and we had lunch and talked anothe old times.He was my last contact to Fargo . I send prayers to all the family, Je was a gentleman.RIP Steve Mary K Drs Coll. Rpy. Miami G
I remember him as a friend of my father, Robert Tallman and the times I dealt with Knight Printing when in the Straw Hat Players.

I got my first “real job” at Knight Printing Company in 1976. Steve was President at that time. I was the delivery driver and was always taken back that he treated me with as much respect as he did others with much more seniority. I came from meager beginnings, and I remember the day I went in and asked Steve for an advance so I could buy my first car. He actually co-signed the loan for me. From then on he was like the father figure I’d never had. I worked at Knights for 30 years and have always felt blessed to have had the privilege of working for a man like Steve. RIP and Thank You for believing in me. 🙏
So sorry to read about Steve’s passing. There never was a nicer, harder working man who loved his family and profession as much as Steve. Connie and I will remember him and his family in our prayers.
Mr Gorman was a friend of my father, Jim Pastoret, from kindergarten through graduation from Sacred Heart Academy. When My father came to visit me, he would also visit Steve and reminisce about good times in Fargo and until WWII disrupted things and in spite of the depression, it all seemed like good times. My father is still alive and I know that it hurt him to lose his last link to his childhood in Fargo. He will be remembered and missed.
