Terry DeVine

Terry Michael DeVine, 62, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2008 surrounded by his family.
Terry Michael DeVine was born to Russ and Evelyn DeVine in Watertown, South Dakota on December 13, 1945. He attended school in Watertown and graduated from high school in 1963 with a football scholarship to South Dakota State University. He served with the US Marines from 1965-1969 with a tour of duty in Vietnam.
Terry and Patricia Engler were married on July 25, 1969 in Aberdeen, South Dakota and made their home in Sioux Falls, SD where Terry was employed by the Sioux Falls Argus Leader and the Associated Press. He graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in Journalism in 1972, He was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus by the Department of Journalism at SDSU. He worked for the Associated Press in Pierre, South Dakota, and Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1981 he was hired by the Forum.
Terry is survived by his wife, Pat, Fargo; his sons, Ty (Ellen), Fargo, Nate (fianc? Jennifer Judeikis), Highlands Ranch, Colorado, his daughter, Erin (Tim) Parker, Crystal, Minnesota; grandchildren, Taylor, Aidan, and Ian all of Fargo; his parents, Russ and Evelyn DeVine, Watertown, SD; two brothers, Tim (Sarah) DeVine, Colts Neck, New Jersey, Tom (Deb) DeVine, Morrison, Colorado; three sisters, Patricia DeVine, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Michele (Monty) Hopper, Watertown, South Dakota, and Lisa (Doug) Albers, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Terry loved to read, watch the Minnesota Twins baseball, and most of all play with his three grandsons.
The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Saints Anne and Joachim Catholic Church. There will be a Prayer Service in the Church at 7:00 p.m. Monday. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday and one hour before the funeral in the church.
Memorials are preferred to the Roger Maris Cancer Center and Palliative Care at Meritcare, Fargo.

I just now found this obit, a few years too late. I knew Terry as a Marine while stationed at the Marine Corps Supply Center in Barstow, CA. I’ve always wondered what happened to that really sharp young man. I discover his fate December 2020. Wish I could have had more time with him. RIP, Terry. Semper Fi!
