Thomas Morgan

July 15, 1928 - December 22, 2011

Thomas Morgan, 83, of Hope, ND entered into rest on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the Maple View Memory Care Community in Grand Forks.

Tom was born on July 15, 1928 to Samuel and Elizabeth (Burchill) Morgan in Pillsbury, ND, where he attended school.   After his father’s death in 1935, Tom began farming at an early age with his family near Pillsbury.  In 1946, he and his mother moved to a farm north of Hope.  He and Mavis Anderson were married May 31, 1957 in Wahpeton, ND.  Tom and Mavis enjoyed working together on their dairy, beef, and crop farm. Tom enjoyed toy tractor collecting, fishing, traveling, and just plain visiting.  Tom had an avid interest in people and loved a good conversation with everyone he met.  Tom made his commitment to serve the Lord as a young boy and maintained his faith throughout his life. His daily life and spirit were a living testimony of his love for God.   One of his greatest joys was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  They have special memories of times on the farm riding the snowmobile and golf-cart.  Another highlight was the annual summer family reunion at a lake. Upon retirement in 1999 they enjoyed spending winters in Florida.

The last year of his life Tom resided comfortably and was made to feel at home at the Maple View Memory Care Community.

Those who shared his life:  Mavis, loving wife of 54 years;  three daughters, Merna (Ken) Hellevang, Char (Tim)Myron, Marlee (Troy) Freesemann, 9 grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica) Hellevang, Brandon (Mikaela) Hellevang, Lindsay Hellevang (fiancé Cory Shelton), Jessica (Jeff) Gauderman, Zach and Ty Myron, Alyssa, Angela and Jettison Freesemann; 2 great-grandchildren, Alexa and Nora Gauderman; a sister-in-law, Eloise Morgan; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Lester; sisters, Marian Morgan, Elizabeth (Marvin) Warren, Violet (Everett) Burchill ; an infant nephew, Gary Morgan, and a niece, Louise Warren Schmidt.

Another has finished the course faithfully.
He will be remembered as one who always had a gentle smile and friendly hello.
Even though he is gone his presence or spirit will always be remembered through his family and those that knew him best.

Even though it is always difficult to lose someone we must always keep in mind that there is something far greater at the end of the road and one that we will always be with.

Our sympathy to the Thomas Morgan Family

We are thinking about all of you with care. So thankful for Tom’s quiet, faithful life. I love the verse in Psalms that tells us that the death of God’s saints is precious to Him. God is pleased when one finishes faithfully, and we are encouraged to keep on also. With love, Martin
