Vallie Ann Holmgren, 69, of Fargo, ND passed on to her heavenly home, December 9, 2009, in the Palliative Care Unit of Meritcare Hospital with Hospice Support. Vallie was born on March 14, 1940 to Harry and Louise (Armstrong) Jevne in Minot, ND. She attended Van Buren Township rural school for grades 1-8. Her family moved to Minot in 1954 and she finished high school at Minot Model High School. Vallie and Dennis Holmgren were united in marriage on July 25, 1959 at Minot First Assembly of God Church. They lived in the Minot area until 1963 when they moved to Fargo. Vallie attended Interstate Business College and was employed by Dakota Clinic. She spent almost 20 years as a receptionist at the OB Department at Southwest and Southpointe Meritcare clinics, retiring in 2002. Vallie was a very active member of First Assembly of God Church for over 46 years. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, gardening, decorating, cooking, reading and visiting with her many friends and acquaintances. She was involved with Red Hatters, Maps RV, Birthday Club, New Life Auxiliary, and DAR. Val spent many hours reading the bible and praying for others. She read the bible from cover to cover yearly for the last 10 years. She prayed daily for her family members. Her life was dedicated to helping others in anyway that she could. Even in her three struggles with ovarian cancer she would express concern for the welfare of people facing difficult situations. She is survived by her husband Dennis, two sons, Bradley (Susan) Holmgren, Centralia, WA, and Bryce (Kimberly) Holmgren of Willmar, MN. She has 13 grandchildren; Derck and Alex Holmgren, Centralia, WA; Jessica (Nate) Olander, St. Paul, MN, Cole, Alycia, Drew, Jordan, Carson, Austin, Hannah, Michaela, Dawson, and Lander Holmgren, Willmar, MN and two great-granddaughters, Alaynah and Kyra Olander, St. Paul, MN and three brothers; Gene (Ellen) Jevne, Casper, WY, Donald (Sue) Jevne, Collbron, CO and Terry (Joan) Jevne, Minot, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Louise Jevne. The Funeral for Vallie will be Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 10:30am at the First Assembly of God in Fargo, ND. A prayer service will be Friday, December 18th at 7pm with visitation from 5-7:00pm at First Assembly of God Church, Fargo.
