Velva N. Peterson, 95, Fargo, died Sunday, February 1, 2004 in Bethany Homes, Fargo Velva was born December 19, 1908 to Ed and Christine Hill of Wales, North Dakota. She graduated from Langdon High School and Mayville College. She taught elementary school and chorus for twenty years in North Dakota. She was also a piano teacher and piano tuner for several years. Velva married Stewart Peterson in June of 1929 and they farmed near Wales, North Dakota. In 1956 she moved to Hillsboro, North Dakota and then settled in Fargo in 1962 after retiring form teaching. She managed the apartment building where she lived. She also worked as a seamstress for Virginia Flora and Richmond?s Clothing in West Acres until 1994. Velva moved to Bethany Homes in 2002. Velva will be remembered for her warm smile and compassion. She received her greatest joy and satisfaction from helping others. Velva is survived by two sons, Verle (Sandra) Peterson, Hillsboro, ND; Lannes (Joanne) Peterson, Park River, ND; two daughters, LaVon Peterson, Hockessin, Delaware; Marlene Hanson, Fargo, ND; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; one sister, Olive Waltz, Landon, ND; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Stewart, and her husband, Stewart; brother, Elmer Hill; sisters, Edna Hill, Esther Spenst, and Ardyce Feltman.
