Vernon Johnson

Vernon G. Johnson, 76, of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004 in the Hillsboro Nursing Home. Vernon was born in Traill County near Buxton on January 23, 1928 to Carl Alfred and Mary (Hettervig) Johnson. He attended school in Hillsboro and in 1946 entered the Navy, serving in the Pacific. He married Mavis Waters on March 13, 1954 at Our Savior?s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. Vernon worked as a mechanic at Hillsboro Equipment for many years. He is preceded in death by his son, Bradley Dale Johnson; sister, Ardis Anderson; and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Mavis of Hillsboro; son, Jeffrey of Hillsboro; daughter, Debra (James) Knecht of Hillsboro; daughter-in-law, Debra Johnson of Elkhart, IN; grandchildren, Samantha, Michael and Thomas Johnson and Philip, Christopher, Brian, and Benjamin Knecht; sister, Margaret Rohman of Phoenix, AZ; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service: Friday 2:00 pm at Our Savior?s Lutheran Church, Hillsboro. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church and also Thursday from 5-7 pm with prayer service at 7:00 pm at Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Hillsboro.
