Viola Sokness

Viola Sokness, Hillsboro, North Dakota, formerly of Grandin, North Dakota, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at the Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home at the age of 97. Viola was born on February 22, 1908, the daughter of Torger and Sara (Engum) Watland, in Richland County, ND. She grew up in this area and received her education in Galchutt, ND. Viola was united in marriage to Joseph Sokness in Moorhead, MN. They made their home in Warren, MN, where he worked for the local elevator. They moved to Marshall, MN, and finally to Grandin, ND, in 1951. Viola entered the Hillsboro Nursing Home in 2004. Viola was a member of the Mother?s Club and the Ladies Aid. Viola is survived by her son, Dennis of Grandin, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, and 8 brothers and sisters.
