Walter Hanson

Sophie passed away on August 18, 2008 at her home in Fargo and Walter passed away on August 30, 2008 at Bethany Homes in Fargo. Walter Hanson was born on June 10, 1923, in Hillsboro, ND, the son of Teman and Marie Hanson. He grew up and attended school in Hillsboro. After his schooling, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy and became a See Bee. Walter received his honorable discharge on February 17, 1946 from WW II. He returned to Borup, MN and began farming with his father prior to moving to Fargo where he worked many years as a Semi Driver. Walter and Sophie were united in marriage on April 15, 1961 at St. Mary?s Cathedral in Fargo. Sophie Skrumida was born on August 9, 1935 in Ontario, Canada. After their marriage she worked as a C.N.A. and later as a day care provider for many families. She also was an Avon Salesperson for several years. Walter and Sophie are survived by his sister, Audrey Waters of Hillsboro; and her sisters, Helen Wepruk and Cynthia Sokoliuk, both of Winnipeg; and several nieces and nephews.
