William Robert ?Bill? Phelps Sr. The Forum - 11/24/2006 William R. Phelps was born to Harold F. and Mary J. Phelps of Minto, ND in 1915. After graduating from Minto High School, he studied Agricultural Engineering at NDAC (NDSU). He was a farm manager and realtor in Minto before serving with the US Army in Hawaii during World War II. He married Marguerite (Perl) Phelps in Fargo on April 7, 1947. With his father and his brother, Joe, he was one of the three partners in a realty firm that provided agricultural real estate brokerage and management services throughout the Red River Valley for most of the 20th Century. Bennett School, Shanley High School, the Church of Saints Anne and Joachim, and the offices of the Diocese of Fargo are situated on land he owned. A long-term member of the Fargo Board of Realtors, the Elks, the Knights of Columbus, and a charter member of the Golden Kiwanis in Fargo, and at one time or another, he belonged to four Catholic Parishes in Fargo. He is survived by Marguerite, his wife of 59 years, by sisters Mary Jane Buck of Duluth, MN, Allie Lu (James) Dunlevy of Fairfield, IA, and brother Joseph (Rita) Phelps of Brainerd, MN, by sister-in-law Doloris Jackson of Minneapolis, MN, by children William Jr. (Sayre) of LaHabra Heights, CA, Thomas of San Diego, CA, James (Virginia) of Manhattan, KS, John (Patricia) of Omaha, NE, Mary Anne Phelps (Antonio E. Rocha) of Austin, TX, by grandchildren Janet Phelps and William Patrick Phelps, by step-grandchildren Denise (Kelly) Crace, Nicholas (Angela) Rocha and Crissy Rocha and four step great grand daughters. He was predeceased by brother Harold F. (?Hody?) Phelps, Jr. Funeral: Saturday, November 25, 10:30 am at Riverview Place Chapel, 5300 12th Street South, Fargo. Interment at a later date.
