Winnifred Hochberger, age 91, Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2004, in the Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home.
Winnifred was born on September 4, 1913, the daughter of Acy Levi ?Lee? and Hattie Green. She grew up in the Binford ? Jesse area and graduated from Binford High School. She was united in marriage to Hugo Hochberger on October 22, 1936, at Sutton, North Dakota. She lived in Sutton, ND, until 1955, then moved to Cooperstown, ND. She worked at the Howden Drug Store and also at the Hochberger Furniture Store. She moved to Hillsboro in 1968 and worked many years at the Johnson Store and in later years had a thrift store in the summer months in downtown Hillsboro.
Winnifred especially loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed working with her hands, quilting, crocheting, sewing, making lefse, flatbread and fattigmand, listening to old time music and a good game of whist.
Winnifred was a member of Our Savior?s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro where she was active for many years, and also an active member of the community. Her loving and optimistic inspiration will be missed by all who knew her.
Winnifred is survived by her daughter, Joanne (Robert) Arneson of Casselton, North Dakota; 3 grandchildren, Dell (Jackie) Arneson of Fargo, North Dakota; Danny (Marie) Arneson of Longmont, Colorado; Deb (Kevin) Gaw of Littleton, Colorado; 7 great grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Virginia (Myron) Kjelgaard of McHenry, North Dakota; Joyce (Armand) Anderson of Billings, Montana; and Gladys Cooper of Lake Stevens, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hugo; her son, Dennis; and a brother, Kenneth.
FUNERAL: 10:30 a.m. Monday in Our Savior?s Lutheran Church, Hillsboro
VISITATION: 2-5 Sunday in Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro, and also on Monday in the church one hour prior to services.
BURIAL: Cooperstown Cemetery, Cooperstown, North Dakota
