Obituary

Zachary James Kraft, age 22, was wrapped up in Gods arms and brought home to be with his mother on November 6, 2015.

Zach was born on September 8, 1993 in Grand Forks, ND to Scarlet (Fuller) Kraft. Zach was educated at Winship Elementary School, Valley Middle School and attended Central High School for his freshman year. In 2009 Zach moved to Fargo and attended Fargo North High School. Growing up Zach enjoyed BMX racing, cross country track, loved Art, and developed his passion for hockey.

Zach dreamed of scoring a winning goal at the Ralph Engelstad, in 2012 his dream came true. Zach scored the winning goal for Fargo North at the 2012 State Championship against Grafton/Park River. Zach graduated in 2012 and went on to play junior hockey. He made the Fargo Force preseason roster in 2012. He played for the Aberdeen Wings for the 2012-13 Season and then went on to play for the Wisconsin Wilderness as team captain for the 2013-14 Season.

In February of 2014, while playing for the Wisconsin Wilderness, Zach took a hard hit to the head. Due to recurring headaches following the hit, further tests resulted in the diagnosis of brain cancer. For the past 19 months Zach fought a courageous battle with his loving family and friends by his side the entire time.

Zach is survived by his sisters – Crystal (Nate), Cassie (Brandon), his brother, Josh (Christy), three nephews – Ricky, Will, and Jaxon, his grandpa Fuller, his aunt Rhonda (Timmy), his cousins – Derek, Brandon (Kylee) and Landon, Amanda and baby Karter, grandma Kraft, aunt Donna (Jim) and many extended family. Also surviving is his loving girlfriend Kiana who never left his side, and his loving dog Bauer, who was his son.

You were such a loving, kind, wonderful human being and you will be deeply missed by the whole Gackle family. I would have been lucky to have had you as a son and sometimes, it almost felt like you were like part of the family. Rest with the angels you dear sweet boy!

  9. Nancy Leier says:

Zach was a one of a kind art student at North. It was an honor to get to know him and teach him. He was a kind and fun student who had a wonderful curiosity and loved to create art that was meaningful and unique. Plus he made us all proud with his athletic abilities. He is now home with his mom and the angels. I will never forget you Zach.

  10. Bill Harrie says:

I am very sad to hear of Zach’s passing. He was a great guy with a very big heart who fought to the end. Zach is a very good friend of my son Nick, and Zach spent a lot of time at my house, whether doing P90X or just hanging out. He will be missed by a lot of people because he touched a lot of lives in his short time. Life is not always fair and Zach’s passing really shows how unfair life can be. This one hurts.

  11. Aunes says:

Words could never express my sorrow for your family. We did not know your family personally although we became close through the family you have around you. Northsiders always have a special bond that can never be broken. Prayers always πŸ‘ΌπŸ‘ΌπŸ‘Ό

  12. Ruben says:

To the Kraft family, my heart goes out to you in this hour of grief. It’s never easy to handle a situation like the one you’re going through. I know because when my hour of grief came – lost my mother – I could not find comfort anywhere, so I turn to our Heavenly Father the God of all comfort. I opened my heart and mind to Him in prayer. He invites you to do the same through His Son Jesus Christ – Mathew 11:29. I found strength in the words of Isaiah 38:14 and like a swallow or a crane, I chirped and moaned like a dove, and my eyes grew weak while looking upward to the Lord (Jehovah). Dear Kraft family ask Him to be your security and He will become your stronghold.

I would also like to share a wonderful scripture from God’s Word. It’s so fantastic and so marvelous that even if you have read them before, this time let them sink in to your consciousness because they contain the most wonderful hope any man, woman or child who has ever lived could ever hope to receive – John 5:28,29. IT IS THE HOPE OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD. It’s something so hard to believe and accept that no wonder our Lord began His word by saying: “MARVEL NOT AT THIS…” – King James Bible. “DO NOT BE AMAZED AT THIS…” – New International Version. “DON’T BE SURPRISED AT WHAT I JUST SAID…” – GOD’S WORD TRANSLATION. “WONDER NOT AT THIS…” – Weymouth New Testament. Marvel us, wonder us, surprise us, amaze us, this is the way God deals with us. He surpasses All our expectations then he says as it were – ‘I got this’ – let me handle it. Please let him handle this for you and you too will find comfort in the God that WILL marvel you, wonder you, surprise you, and amaze you. With agape love, Ruben

  13. M. Hill says:

I am very sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. Life is a precious gift, yet can be so short. God has promised to one day soon eliminate death forever, along with all sickness, pain and sorrow. (Rev.21:4) He has also promised to reunite us with our loved ones on a restored paradise earth. The Bible says he longs to do this. (John 5:28,29; Psalm 37:11,29; Job 14:14,15) I hope these scriptures will be of comfort to each of you and bring you peace.
