Zane passed away on Monday, April 22, 2019 at his son’s home in Dilworth, MN, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Zane Richard Stigen was born on July 6, 1928, the son of Richard and Pearl (Stanley) Stigen in Caledonia, ND. He grew up in this area and received his education here. Zane was united in marriage to Eleanor A. Rohman on November 30, 1947. Throughout the majority of their lives they lived in the Hillsboro area. Eleanor passed away on August 18, 2007. Zane has made his home at Kelleher Manor in Hillsboro for the past two years. Zane is survived by his five children – Kathleen Ford of Moorhead, MN; Michael Stigen of Wilton Manors, FL; Richard (Nancy) Stigen of Dilworth, MN; Jane Loomis of Fargo, ND; and Julie Rust of Hillsboro, ND; his 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Daryll Stigen of Hillsboro, ND; and sisters – Betty Johnson of Moorhead, MN and Jean (Donovan) Wright of Mentor, MN. Zane was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 59 years Eleanor; three brothers Deane, Bob and Lloyd; two sisters Shirley and Janice; and great-grandson, Leo Wilson. VISITATION: one hour prior to the service in the church on Saturday FUNERAL SERVICE: 1 PM Saturday, April 27, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church in Hillsboro BURIAL: Immanuel Cemetery near Hillsboro In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley whose compassionate care made Zane’s final days comfortable.

  1. Our sympathy and condolences to you all on the passing of your Dad, Zane. We are so glad we were able to visit him in Hillsboro last summer. There were some memories shared of Stigen / Carl and Adeline Aamold friendship days. We are glad to hear he had Hospice support and comfort in his final days. We will not be able to attend the Celebration of his Life Saturday, but we will be in thought and prayers for you all. Curt and Sandy.
