Our staff of 8 Licensed Funeral Directors and numerous part-time funeral assistants have allowed us to be able to meet the needs of families in the Red River Valley and surrounding communities since 1897.

Jim Boulger

A Fargo native, Jim attended and graduated from Fargo South High School in 2003. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management in 2007 from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Mortuary Science from the University of Minnesota in 2008.
Jim comes from a long line of Boulgers in the business, officially taking over ownership in 2016. He is excited and honored to carry that on, providing caring and affordable service long into the future.
Jim is active in Fargo Downtown Rotary, Selected Independent Funeral Homes, his local church and is on the Sanford Health Foundation Board. Jim enjoys golfing, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
Jim lives in Fargo with his wife, Laura, and their three children – Lincoln, Collins, and Weston – who keep him busy outside of the office.
Jeff Baer

Jeff has been a funeral director with the Boulger Funeral Home for over 30 years.
He is a Fargo native, and a graduate of Shanley High School. He attended college at NDSU, and graduated from the College of Mortuary Science at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis in 1975.
Jeff lives in Fargo with his wife Debra and has two grown sons. A granddaughter named Morgan brings great delight to the family.
He is a member of the Roughrider Kiwanis and the Knights of Columbus. Jeff is on the Cass County cemetery board, and has been active in the Salvation Army organization. He is a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo.
Jeff is a licensed funeral director in ND and MN and an insurance agent. His goal is to provide caring and compassionate service to every family. He takes great pride in helping families plan a final tribute fitting to the memory of their loved one.
Larry Boulger

Larry grew up in Fargo, graduating from Fargo North High School. He attended the University of Minnesota from which he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mortuary Science. Larry purchased the funeral home from his father, Jim in 1978, and has owned and operated it since that time.
Larry is active as a director at Boulger Funeral Home and also helps with Fredrikson Funeral Chapel in Kindred, North Dakota and Wildeman Funeral Home in Hillsboro, ND. Larry and his wife, Jenice have three children.
Marty Baumgartner

Marty D. Baumgartner joined the staff of Boulger Funeral Home in 1995. He is a 1990 graduate of Rothsay High School, a 1994 graduate of Concordia College Moorhead, and a 1995 graduate of the University of Minnesota Minneapolis. He majored in Business Administration and minored in Biology at Concordia, and majored in Mortuary Science at the U of M.
In 1997, with the affiliation of Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo and Wildeman Funeral Home in Hillsboro, North Dakota, Marty’s responsibilities became split between Hillsboro and Fargo.
Marty is a member of the American Guild of Organists – Red River Valley Chapter, and serves as treasurer of the organization. He is also the organist at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN. He and his wife Sheila reside in Fargo with their three sons.
Marty is a North Dakota and Minnesota licensed funeral director, and is a North Dakota licensed insurance agent.
Tia Lopez

Tia is a Fargo native, graduating from West Fargo High School in 2010.
She attended Northern State University and received a bachelors degree in Biology in 2014, while playing soccer for four years at the collegiate level. Tia then continued her education at the University of Minnesota where she received her bachelors degree in Mortuary Science in 2015.
Tia has started with the Boulger team in 2017. She is excited to be back in Fargo and is privileged to be serving the families from the community in which she grew up in.
Hannah Blazinski-Cuhel

Hannah grew up in Erhard, Minnesota and graduated from Rothsay High School. After high school, she attended Minnesota State University Moorhead and then DMACC for a four-year degree in Mortuary Science. Hannah joined the Boulger staff in the end of 2019 and is excited to continue serving families with empathy and care.
Nick Kinnen
Licensed Funeral Director
nick@boulgerfuneralhome.comNick enjoys meeting families and assisting them with, perhaps, the most difficult time in their lives. He finds it very rewarding to hear stories of the life we are honoring and getting to know those who are left behind.
Nick has lived in the Fargo/Moorhead area my whole life and is an active member at Glyndon Lutheran Church where he has been a member since birth having both served on the council and delivered sermons from the pulpit. You can also find Nick performing with Undiscovered Country Productions in town.
Nick is an ordained minister through Christian Global Outreach Ministries with a BA in Biblical and Theological studies from Regent University. He spent six years working in end of life care and a year and a half working as a crematory operator and sexton for a local cemetery. All of his life experience has lead him to his current position and equipped him with the knowledge and skills to assist with answering any questions from the disposition process to those of faith.
Nick and his fiancé live in Moorhead with their four cats. He loves to read anything that pertains to theology or a good mystery and can often be found spending time engaged in outdoor activities.
Breanne Cudney

Breanne@boulgerfuneralhome.comBreanne graduated from West Fargo High School in 2018, continuing with her bachelor's in business administration at North Dakota State University in 2022. She then moved out to Ohio to complete her associate degree in Mortuary Science at the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 2023.
Breanne is now back home and ready to give back to the community as part of the Boulger staff.

Ann serves as a grief support coordinator at Boulger Funeral Home.
She grew up in Brainerd, MN and graduated from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN and later Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN. She is an ordained Lutheran (ELCA) pastor, having served several congregations in Minnesota and North Dakota. Currently she is doing chaplaincy work. Ann and her husband Peter reside in Detroit Lakes, MN and have three grown children and one son-in-law.
As one of the Grief Support Coordinators, Ann feels privileged to come alongside grieving individuals and families with support and resources as they walk the difficult journey of learning to live without their loved one.
Sonja Kjar

Sonja Kjar is serving at Boulger’s as one of the Grief Support Coordinators. Sonja graduated from high school in Bloomington, MN. In 1986 she graduated from Luther College, Decorah, IA and later from Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN. She is an ordained Lutheran (ELCA) pastor (since 1996) and is board certified (since 2006) through the Association of Professional Chaplains. She has served in congregations and hospitals in Eastern North Dakota since 1996.
Sonja lives in Kindred with her husband Brad, and their three children: Annika, Anders and Kai.
One of Sonja’s favorite quotes is, ” A child old enough to love is old enough to mourn.” (Alan Wolfelt)
Because grief and loss are realities in life, she appreciates being able to walk with people, even if only for a time, as they live with life’s losses.

Peter Dale Fredrikson, age 69, Fargo, formerly of Davenport, ND, passed away at Sanford Health on Friday, February 14, 2020.
Peter Dale Fredrikson was born to Robert and Myrtle Dale Fredrikson on July 2, 1950, at St. Lukes Hospital in Fargo, ND. He grew up in Davenport, ND and attended schools in Davenport and Kindred graduating from Kindred High School in 1969. He attended NDSU for 2 years before attending Central State University in Edmond, OK, from which he graduated in 1974.
Peter farmed with his father Bob in the Davenport area. He took over Fredrikson Funeral Chapel of Davenport with his twin brother, David. Peter and David began construction of a new chapel in 1988 of which Peter was to be director until his retirement in 2015. On the family farm Peter and David raised registered llamas, Vietnamese potbelly pigs, and Shar Pei dogs as therapy animals who they shared with the residents of many area nursing homes.
Peter was proud of being both a farmer and a funeral director. He was a long-time member of Davenport Lutheran Church, Lions Club, and Bonanzaville. He enjoyed life on the lake at Pelican Point, waterskiing, and spending time with family and friends.
His motto was “Be nice to everyone”.
Preceded in death by his parents, and brother, David.
Peter will be mourned by James Robert Fredrikson of New York City, John Timothy Fredrikson and his wife, Mindy and their son, Jack, all of Grand Marais, MN.
