Donna K. Bachmeier

October 15, 1940 ~ October 30, 2017
Donna Kay Bachmeier, 77, of Fargo, ND passed away Monday, October 30, surrounded by family and friends after battling pancreatic cancer.
Donna Kay Lynn was born on October 15, 1940 at St. John’s Hospital in Fargo, ND to Harry and Stella Lynn. She spent much of her childhood traveling with her family as Harry moved around the Dakotas working on various construction projects. In 1958 she graduated from Central High School in New Rockford, North Dakota. It was while in high school that she met Frank.
Frank and Donna were married on February 27, 1960. Donna worked at Pioneer Mutual, a position she enjoyed for over thirty years until her retirement in 1992. Shortly after their marriage they began adding to the family. First came Thomas in 1960, followed by Mike in 1961. Jeff in 1964, Jon in 1969, and Denise later joined the family in 1975. Grandkids and great-grandkids would soon follow.
There were few things Donna loved more than auto racing and the way it brought family together. From the first springtime roar of the racecar in “the garage” to Sundays spent together watching NASCAR, racing meant family. She was also active volunteering at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, enjoying coffee with friends, and creating various forms of needlework.
Donna is a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She welcomed her son and daughters-in-law into the family like they were her own and spent countless hours supporting her grandchildren in their various activities. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, son Thomas, and parents Stella and Harry. She is survived by her children Mike (Laura), Jeff (Eileen), Jon (Teresa), and Denise (John) Taves; grandchildren Tina, Tiffany (Dustin) Anderson, Levi, Cole, Chase, Kate Taves, Matthew Taves, and Thomas Taves; great-grandchildren Reece Anderson and Ryland Anderson.
A prayer service will be held at Boulger Funeral Home at 7:00 PM on Friday, November 3 in Fargo with visitation starting at 6:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 4, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fargo, with a burial at Holy Cross Cemetery South to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Roger Maris Cancer Center in Donna’s name.

My most sincere condolences to Donna’s family. She loved you all and spoke of you often. I shall miss Donna greatly as we were more like brother and sister than cousins. She spent a lot of time with our family on the farm when we were kids, and I will cherish so many memories we shared. May your memories of Donna sustain you during this difficult time.
Love and prayers,
Larry Lynne (her “twin cousin)

I’ll always cherish the memories I have of Donna. She spent summers with us as we were growing up. Even though she was older than I, she played with us. I’m proud to claim her as a cousin. I hope your wonderful memories of her will ease your grief. God bless her memory.
