Stanley Baer

Stanley J. Baer, 90, Fargo, ND, died at his home in the care of hospice with his loving wife at his side on May 30, 2019.
Stanley was born on September 9th, 1928 in Halliday, ND to Peter and Eva (Mischel) Baer. The family later moved to a farm south of Richardton, ND. He attended country school and graduated high school at the Abbey in Richardton. In order to attend high school, he worked for his uncle Jack Palm as a hired hand on his farm. After graduating from high school Stanley enlisted in the US army on September 19, 1946 at Fort Snelling, MN, and eventually was stationed at Fort Ord, CA. He was discharged on March 19, 1948 as Technician 4th Grade in the US Army. Stanley fulfilled his military obligations joining the Air Force Reserve and was discharged on January 3rd, 1966 as Captain.
Stanley enrolled at NDSU through the GI bill, and moved to Fargo in 1949. He met Rosemary Rech at a dance and they were married at St. Mary's Church Richardton, ND, October 28, 1950.
Stanley received a degree in architectural engineering at NDSU. He worked for Smith, Inc., Minnko Metal, Olaf Anderson, started his own business, Agri Steel, building metal buildings, bins, and dryers, then Inryco until his retirement.
After retirement Stanley spent time at the lake building their cabin and garage. He helped construct and establish Fargo’s first two FM Curling clubs and curled into his 80’s. One of the highlights of his curling career was throwing out the first stone at the US Curling Nationals in Fargo at age 82. Stanley loved attending NDSU Bison games and tailgating. He belonged to Toastmaster’s, Eagles, VFW, and Knights of Columbus. Stanley was a very involved parent while his children attended Shanley High School.
Stanley leaves his wife Rosemary, two daughters, Renee Baer, Fargo, ND and Audrey (Brad) Hawkins, Moorhead, MN; two sons, Brad (Lea) and Jeffrey (Debra), Fargo, ND. Six grandchildren, Jacob (Rebecca) and Jared Baer, Alex (Amy) Hawkins and Garrett Hawkins, and Christopher and Joshua Baer. He is survived by one brother, Harvey (Jeri) Baer and one sister, Susanna Brown. Three great grandchildren, Morgan Baer, Micah Baer, and Ella Hawkins.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Joseph, Frank, Paul, and sister Loretta Fleck.
Visitation will be 12:00-2:00 P.M. Monday June 3, 2019 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Fargo with a Mass of Christian burial at 2:00 P.M. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery North.

I am saddened to hear that Stan passed away and I am also gladdened to know that he is with our Lord and Savoir. I will always be thankful to Stan for giving me the chance to be on his curling team. He took me in and showed me what curling was all about, Thank You Stan.
