Nadine (Rieger) Wigtil, age 95, passed away surrounded by family, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and Sheyenne Crossings Senior Living Community on July 17, 2019 in West Fargo, ND. She was born on July, 14, 1924 to Michael and Alpha (Boe) Aune in Abercombie, ND. On December 23, 1946 she married Adam Rieger in the Richland Lutheran Church, Colfax, ND. Together they had 3 children, Carol, Duane, and Linda. Adam passed away on July 5, 1979. Nadine found love again with Norris L. Wigtil, Walcott, ND. They were happily married on March 21, 1987 until Norris passed away on October 4, 1992. Nadine attended high school in Christine, ND and then studied at the State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. At 19 years of age, she moved to Pasadena, CA where she worked in the North American Defense Plant making wings for the P-51 airplane during World War II. After the war ended, she moved to Washington state where she worked for the American Red Cross. She eventually made her way back home to North Dakota in 1946 where she was married and started a family. Nadine was an incredibly strong, hardworking wife and mother who relished in taking care of her family and the family farm. She was an extraordinary cook and baker. One of her favorite past times was spent baking with her grandchildren. She was very involved in her church where she served the community for many years. She also enjoyed her time as a 4-H leader. She was a very talented quilter and made over 100 quilts for Arizona children in need. Not to mention, the many cherished quilts that she made for her family and friends. She is survived by her sister, Marjorie Rieger, Fargo, ND and her children, Carol (Dennis) Braaten, West Fargo, ND, Duane (Alice) Rieger Walcott, ND, and Linda (Steve) Gunness, Walcott, ND; step-daughter, Cheryl (Clayton) Rieger of Walcott, ND; grandchildren, Cary (Margie) Braaten, West Fargo, ND, Darcy Braaten, Chandler, AZ, Tina (Joe) Bearfield, Glenrock, WY and Joann (Ron) Sevald, West Fargo, ND, Stuart (Sheila) Gunness, Walcott, ND, Greta Gunness, West Fargo, ND; step grandchildren, Christopher Rieger, Walcott, ND, Jonathon (Laura) Rieger, Walcott, ND, as well as ten great- grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Alpha (Boe) Aune, two brothers, Orville and Dean Aune, and two sisters, Jane Goughnour and Sarah Hageness. Visitation will be held from 6-7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July, 24, 2019 at Zion United Methodist Church, Walcott, ND. She will be laid to rest at Zion United Methodist Cemetery.
