Raymond "Butch" Bruns

March 29, 1944 ~ July 18, 2020
Raymond (Butch) was born March 29, 1944 in Hannaford, North Dakota to John and Madeline Bruns. He died peacefully at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo July 18, 2020.
He was born with a mental disability which affected him throughout his life. He remained in Hannaford with his family until they could no longer provide the care he needed. As a young boy he was always a joy to be around. He also became very friendly with the neighbors. He loved to "run away" from home to visit neighbors. In his early teens he moved to the Grafton State School in Grafton, North Dakota. He remained there until his dad passed away and his mother moved to Fargo, North Dakota. He then moved to Fraser Home in Fargo where he stayed until recently moving to Villa Maria Nursing Home. He had exceptional and loving caregivers at Fraser.
He spent most of his time in his special chair. When visiting Butch at Fraser his requests were simple, "take me for a ride and buy me something to drink, a milkshake or Pepsi". He loved those rides!
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lorraine Anundson and brothers John Bruns and Gerald Bruns.
Raymond is survived by his brothers, Duane of Rochester, Minnesota, Robert (Dolly) of Lacey, Washington, and sisters Audrey (Jim) Haugen of Winthrop, Washington, and Mary (Phil) Raekes of Kennewick, Washington and many nieces’ nephews and friends.
Private interment will be held at St. George Catholic Cemetery in Cooperstown, ND.
May you Rest In Peace Uncle Butch!
