Mary Jo Bergman died December 17, 2020 in Detroit Lakes, MN. Mary Jo Bergman was born January 17, 1943, in minus 40-degree weather, at St. Lukes Hospital, in Fargo, ND. She graduated from Argusville High School and went on to receive her radiology degree, nursing degree with a master’s in nursing education and management at University of Mary, Bismarck, ND. She was employed by Bismarck Hospital, Heart View treatment center in Mandan, ND, and at Sanford in Fargo ND. She married Gabriel Pflipsen in 1967 and had three boys, Bob, Bill and Brian. They were her joy. She also enjoyed many trips abroad and her many friends that she loved so much. She is survived by her son Brian, brother Bob, and sister Marsha. Nephews; Rob, Tony, Tj, and niece Cari and Steve (Heidi) Pflipsen. She was preceded in death by a sister Janie Guy. She will be placed next to her boys Bob, and Bill at St. Marys of the Lakes, Detroit Lakes. No funeral is planned. A special thanks to Hospice and Oak Crossing for their excellent care given.

  1. Mary Jo was such a great person. She accepted me as an older than average student to the Radiology program and gave me a career ! I excelled and had a great career. Now retired. She made me what I am today. My prayers go out to the family and hope they know how many lives she touched. I am very sad.

  2. We already miss Mary Jo very much. She was a wonderful person to me and our family. I shared texts with her often and will truly miss her great sense of humor and witty comments. This is a very sad time for our family and we will always cherish the time we were blessed to know her. Rest in peace wonderful lady.

    So sorry I never had the opportunity to say good bye fond memories of our first meeting 20yrs ago in Miles City sitting by my self on the porch of the Olive and you invited this Aussie to join your mob what a wonderful friend you became over the years I’m so glad you came all the way to miles City last year to see me I love you sweetheart until we meet again

  4. I had the honor of meeting and working with Mary Jo at Heartview. Always w/the smile and the even flow of her voice. She had a way with those living with substance abuse & life’s problems. I spent many hours charting, chatting and laughing with Mary Jo. A very kind, funny and enjoyable lady whom I enjoyed spending time. She also enjoyed telling and L isteming to a gd joke(dirty or otherwise).

  5. I had the great pleasure of working with Mary Jo at the Heartview Foundation and am so very sad to hear of her death. The world will certainly be less classy without her in it. My prayers to her family and friends in this time of sorrow.

  6. I’m very saddened to hear of Mary Jo’s passing. Although working in Radiology at the competition, St. Alexius Hospital, I always had respect and admiration for Mary Jo as I seen first hand the dedication and pride she possessed for her students. I also had the
    Honor of working with her when she was the Director of the School of Radiologic Technology at Meritcare Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. Each one of us are put here on Earth to make a difference in other people’s life’s, to my friend, Mission accomplished Mary Jo !

  8. My sympathy to Mary Jo’s family. I have so many words to write……Mary Jo was an incredible lady, who was forward thinking, hardworking, and made a positive impact on so many lives. She was fun, stylish, understanding, challenging, and shared much wisdom. I worked along side her for 17 years in Fargo, and observed her compassion for educating young professionals. She will always hold a very special place in my heart. As she would always say…….. Hugs!

    I had the pleasure of doing Mary Jo’s hair for the past years and will miss her deeply. She always had wise words for me and I knew we would always be laughing during our appointments. We became fast friends and I enjoyed spending time with her at her home or out for dinner or a martini. I will always look up to her for her kind personality, and her class. She was a dear friend and will be greatly missed. Wish I could have one last Mary Jo hug!

  14. I would not be where I am at with out her teachings. She will always be a staple of conversations when it comes to the Medcenter One school of Radiology. She was definitely a pioneer and dedicated healthcare professional.

  17. Dear family of Mary Jo. A great deal of gratitude goes out to her for the opportunity she gave me in my education. She taught with a firm hand and a no spoon feeding policy. She even gave good advice post education. Brian she did speak well of her boys all the time.
    I shall miss greatly what she meant to me and will think of her often. DAG
